Alex Smith to ask for release

If no draft picks are involved, does that change your opinion on bringing him in? Draft pick, Smith, Stanzi(?) as your QB's in camp. |

The Star is far more indicative of the average Chiefs fan than a site dedicated to the Chiefs. Duh. |

I'd probably say he's worth a 2nd round value without any further considerations like roster bonuses etc... and I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. Nor would I be surprised if they just released him. Nor would I be surprised if he went somewhere for a 5th. Just throwing in my $0.02. |

You keep Palmer upright( give him a good O-line) he will pick you a part. I'll take Palmer any day over Smith until we get our Smith(Geno) coached up. Palmer would do a better job coaching Geno as well because he would embrace it better. You think Alex wants to come in here and coach up whoever we draft for the future after having to watch Kaep ? Give me Palmer and a good O-line

Not trying to be a smart ass here, but any of the scenario's involving conditional picks would have to be 2014 draft picks.
I got laughed out of town a while back here on a conditional something along these lines (don't remember exactly)... 2014 4th rounder 2014 3rd rounder if he starts over half of the games 2014 2nd rounder if he starts the whole season and takes us to the playoffs 2014 1st rounder if he takes us to the Super Bowl I would think you might be able to pull something like that off. Then, if the drafted QB beats him out, you are not out much. And if the drafted QB can not beat him out... let the chips fall. |

Palmer's "stats" were inflated SIGNIFICANTLY by garbage time production.

if I could use one example when saying "stats don't paint the whole picture" I would use Carson Palmer's 2012 season as exhibit A.

Not trying to pick a fight but for the most part Manning always had good O-lines until the last 2-3yrs in Indy. It was the Colts D that sucked ass in mediocrity and why the Colts O had to play with a slow pitch softball scoring mentality.
