A lot of people say this and it always makes me cringe. Maybe I just don't understand the logic. Can you please explain this line of thinking to me?

I'm willing to bet that Bmac has more points in his 1st season in the NBA than Josh selby will have in his NBA career

If I had to bet, I would say he'd suck in the NBA if he declared this year. He might also suck after spending 3 more years at KU, but most likely, an additional year will improve his skills, don't you think? |

Why don't we let the experts who are paid big money by nba teams to judge talent. If they say Ben is a top 3 pick and Selby was a second rounder, I'll assume they know more than message board posters

I think going through the NBA training regiment will improve anyone's skills much more significantly than going through the college training regiment. Don't you think?

You have a point, if this year's class is not that good, then all power to him, let him go and cash in. My main concern is that he needs to learn how to play under pressure, his production in playoff like games has not been what's expected from top 10 NBA pick. |

In the last 4 games, he has been below mediocre, and those were the games that could solidify you as deserving of a top pick or not. |

If anything, playing basketball professionally is going to be much more routine. I think Ben has enough talent and athletic ability to be a top 3 pick. I don't think staying in college is going to benefit him.

I was just responding to you guys putting down Smart for not trying to go to a bigger stage, you can't blame him, he is contempt at where he's at....Just like Bill Self is contempt to stay where he is at...You're putting down 1 coach and defending another for doing the same thing.

And FTR, I don't blame Smart at all for not taking the UCLA job. That program is a mess. And I think people saying you could be fired despite winning the conference and having been to 3 straight FFs just a few years earlier are forgetting that scathing piece on Howland's program that came out last year. I assume the way his program has been run is why he got fired. Also, Self may simply look at KU as being a better job than any NBA job. Coaching college kids is a whole different animal than coaching professionals, many of whom are prima donnas. Some coaches are simply not cut out to coach pros or simply may not want to deal with the over inflated egos of pros. Nothing wrong with recognizing that. Just look at Nick Saban. I think he figured that out about himself and has since been doing just fine.
