No, it certainly doesn't.

But when 95% of all of the mocks out there have Geno going #1 overall, it pretty much drops napalm on the idea that "everybody outside of CP believes" he isn't worth the #1 overall pick.

It's just that the people who think he doesn't are much better EXPOSED.
It's a consensus based on the value of a quarterback. There's not a consensus that says he's the next great NFL QB.

That's a big difference.

And furthermore, most of those people are internet hacks like Walter and the douche****s at Bleacher Report. I wouldn't believe anything those guys write because they're morons.

But it's just shocking to me that there is SUCH a consensus on Chiefsplanet, yet every other reporter, draft scout, etc. and so, is hesitant to share that assessment.
would you say he isn't as good as McNabb was when Philly drafted him?

I know McNabb has more collegiate wins, but he was a big time runner during college -- scored a lot with his feet.

This whole discussion started, as it almost always does, about whether or not he's worth the #1 overall pick.

This isn't about whether or not he's going to be great.

This is about whether or not taking Geno Smith is good "value".

I absolutely agree with you. But what you say here and what we're actually talking about are 2 different things.

He could be the best of a bunch of shitty QB's. He could be a game manager. Or he could become a great QB.

But this draft class has more questions than any in recent memory.
This is what I was getting at earlier in the thread. I think it's a product of people wanting him to be elite (and some who are just feeding into the Geno Smith clique on CP) rather than actually feeling like he is an elite prospect for sure.

But lo and behold, if you question any aspect of somebody's unhealthy obsession with Geno Smith, you will be labeled as someone who wants a late round pick at QB.

Rob Rang likes him. Scott Wright likes him.

Why do Mel Kiper and Todd McShay carry more weight just because they're on ESPN? I GUARANTEE you Scott Wright does more homework on these guys than Kiper does.

Nonsense. There is a lot of us that would be happy with Geno, Wilson, or Barkley.

But I also see this side of the debate. At least you are acknowledging there is some risk involved. It's better than those that are immediately anointing him as our savior.

I've seen two games: The K-State game and the bowl game. It's unfair for me to make any type of judgement of his abilities.

FTR, I always thought McNabb was an average QB. I never liked him.

Well, for me this is 100% false.

This is ALL about him being an elite PROSPECT. I don't have any idea what kind of NFL QB he'll be but he has all the tools to be a good one.

He's one of the better prospects to come out in the last 5 years.
