Landon Lucas looks like he didn't touch a basketball during the off season. Not sure if that's what happened or not, but Lord have mercy, right now he can't do anything right. He's going after rebounds with one hand, I haven't seen him take a shot in what seems like a month (this might actually not be a bad thing), his defensive presence is non-existent and he's drawing fouls like sh*t draws flies.

Seems like his head is just not in the game. Hey, he's a college kid, so who knows what external factors might be having an impact. Nonetheless, I just don't see how coach can keep giving him minutes anymore.

Hate bagging on a college kid, but Lucas just isn't performing.....at all.

Lucas should be good for 2 things - rebounding and defensive presence. He's not doing either of those right now.

I doubt it is the only explanation, but the tight foul calling has probably thrown off his play.

I guess the upside to having none of our bigs produce anything of note, it doesn't matter when several foul out every game.

I'm sure the tight foul calls are a big reason for the lack of defensive presence from Lucas - but it doesn't explain the rebounding.

Right now, Lucas is tied for 5th on the team in rebounding (4.2 per game). Behind Jackson (6.2), Bragg (5.2), Azubuike (5.0), Vick (4.8), and Mason (4.2).

I fully expect him to get that fixed. Just seems like he's regressed from last year.

The way Self jumped his ass last night during one of the timeouts....
I fully expect him to be benched in the next week or so.....
Significant regression from last year.....

My criticism is obviously them as a player on the court as I have no idea how they are in real life or how they treat people.

Lucas is obviously lost. No confidence. He's a 5th year senior. He is who he is. He had a fair run last year. Kudos. He is not only failing to contribute but, going to cost us games soon.

I'm not sure why Self is not giving Azubuike more opportunity in these early games when we are comfortably ahead. He is obviously going to be a force inside at some point in his KU career. Why not take some hits with his inexperience now to get to the payoff faster?

I imagine the tight fouls, that have been mentioned, is a big factor, but also the lack of Perry Ellis handling the opposing teams focus in the paint, is also a contributing factor!

Good points, farmerchief. Hopefully Landon will just be himself and give us a solid positional center who gets his share of rebounds. Anything on the offensive end is gravy. He seems like a really good kid, so I wish him well. Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.

Was in the locker room today and saw Landen had a boot on his right foot. Could be minor, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's hurt.
