The Best Show on Television... Entourage
This show fuggin Cracks me up. Maybe Im just sheltered because I dont watch TV much, but I started watching this show midway through season one, and freaking love it. Its about this young movie star and his brother, and two friends from New York, and his rise to stardom... Tonights show was at the Sundance Festival, where Vince's latest movie Queens Boulevard was a huge success... plus Turtle and Drama double-teamed this Peace Corps Chick and accidently "crossed swords". heh. funny shit. [Sorry Gochiefs, but they didnt show that part] Freaking Ari Gold, played by Jeremy Piven is fuggin unreal in this show. He makes it. Here is some cool extra footage. Anyway, if you have HBO on Demand, check it out... its great TV. http://www.hbo.com/entourage/ Last edited by teedubya; 06-26-2009 at 05:01 PM.. |

Ari, It's not that we demand any deep meanings. I think most people would settle for coherent story lines. It hasn't had them since Season 3 at best. And when it does pick up storylines (See the airport episode last season with Radiohead playing over, or this season's first episode) they barely get touched on OR are over within 10 minutes in the next episode. Hell, I cannot see why this Andrew-wife storyline is so big when Ari getting offered Studio head was resolved in like 4 minutes screen time. And at this point, E is not even a man anymore. His storyline is reeruned and unbelievable now. I mean it was at least believable that he could get Sloan. It was possible in a Jim Carrey Dumb and Dumber way but it was possible. His newfound drama is not. No guy would ever do the shit he's done in this season. Also, what the hell is the point of Lloyd's storyline? (Hint: there isn't one.) What the hell is Ari's arc? (Hint: there isn't one.)

ya that E thing pisses me off. All that matters in this day in age is who you know and he's acting like it's a crime that someone is setting up some networking for him. It's just stupid, someone in his position would always take that opportunity, it was really dumb how they did that.

He didn't consult his friends. He didn't talk it over with Ari. It was just "Nope". That is SO unbelievably ridiculous. Poor, poor writing. They're phoning it in. |

A good example of that is this exchange: E: I'm fine with you staying over, if you want to. Ashley: I'm not going to. E: That's fine. Ashley: I am. E: That's fine. (Repeat 3 times over) Ashley: Well, it doesn't sound like it. E: I already said I'm fine with it if you want to. Ashley: Okay, than I will. *Writers note: Oh shit, I gotta have something happen to avoid going into a 4th repeat* Cue: Sloan on phone. Ashley: gonna get that E: No Ashley: gonna get that E: No: (Repeat 2x) *Oh shit I've got nothing else.* END SCENE

I still watch this show hoping but it leaves me unimpressed almost every time. The first two seasons were great though. That's more than you can say for most shows.

Seriously, he needs to bring in some outside writers again because this season is hemorrhaging. I doubt they make it past next season anyway, so I hope they make it memorable. |

Hemorrhaging would be generous.

But with that being said, anytime a show with any kind of merit disintegrates into a show about T&A and guy humor, the joke is actually on the viewer. |

I actually agree with irish and Dane's last two critical posts, and I'm no film critic. I've gotten a few laughs, and I'm content looking at T&A. That said, some of the direction this season is just silly. E's story arc is a joke, to the point that I want to turn the channel. Sloan is smoking, so I hang in on those scenes. But the funny bits intertwined with Ari's studio head offer, the banter with those in the business trying to get movie deals done, etc. were a quality part of the show that have gone away.
Honestly, at what point has E ever done anything that would lead you to believe that an industry legend would want to take him under his wing? Oh, and I'll add : the whole Seth Rogan attack earlier this season was ridiculous. You've gotten entirely too arrogant if you think you can make personal attacks part of your show and still create a quality episode. Last edited by KevB; 08-10-2009 at 10:02 PM.. Reason: add |
