JFC, I probably dislike Lebron as much as any poster on this site, but to argue that he isn't one of the greatest basketball players of all time is ridiculous. His skills are top 5 of all-time. He is weaker than MJ mentally, but he has improved in that area every year.
The Decision was the stupidest marketing move in sports history, but he was 25 years old. Who hasn't made a dumb decision when they were 25, especially if ESPN was promising to be a part of that decision? I think Lebron is an arrogant asshole and I hope he never wins another championship, but I can't deny his skill as a basketball player, his devotion to improving his skills, and his overall desire to be considered one of the best ever. |

I respect the hell out of Cleveland fans because they know their sports and they still care about them, even when their teams are downright miserable. That's a real fan. |

Jordan would be hated today in the era of social media. His lifestyle and attitude would get nailed.

Yep, his lack of ability to tip would drive Hootie up the wall. Ohhh and DaKCMan AP is one of only about 10 pre-LeBron Heat fans I know.

I would say LBJ is as about as liked as Bill Laimbeer outside the occasional ball washer you see. However, at least Laimbeer has a paid and would duke it out rather then fall on his ass like he was just shot multiple times it someone stepped up.

I don't think "hate" is the right word. More like "love/hate." I think any sports purist hates but respects the hell out of a guy so arrogant and cocky, but everything they do is in the spirit of getting better and winning. A lot of the reasons LeBron is hated is because he wasn't doing that. "The Decision" was viewed as taking the easy way out. He complained about Spoelstra's practices. He was more interested in dancing on the sidelines and the chalk toss. He was always bitching about respect to the media. To his credit, over the past year, he's gotten a lot better about that. It's actually pretty amazing how much he's matured in 2 years. But the hate comes for 2 pretty different reasons. Jordan/Tiger brand themselves well, but they weren't really showmen. |
