Adrian Peterson Indicted

Reckless/negligent injury to a child. Indicted.

This league may not be able to sustain too many more of these black eyes. It's a mess.

My argument was there is a difference between spanking with the hand and using shit to beat kids with.

Outrage? Maybe a little bit. It's something I feel pretty strongly about.

AP went way overboard.
Every generation disciplined their children different from the next. But when you leave bruises and cuts, then its child abuse, no matter the generation.
I got spanked and switched a lot.
I only spanked each of my kids once, and I felt like shit doing it. But I then had the tool,
(the simple threat of a open hand butt spank) and it worked.

Is it teen pregnancy? Underage drinking, or drug abuse? Divorce rate? Are those better or worse?
I think anyone could say the same thing about any time. I would say the 1964 parents would be saying the same thing. 1954 parents, 1924 parents and so on and so on.

I never hit my son. If parents chose to spank their kids, fine. I just see a big difference between an open palm spank on the buttocks from taking a switch and drawing blood.

For every adult man ages 20 to 64 who is between jobs and looking for work, more than three are neither working nor seeking work, a trend that began with the Great Society. And what Eberstadt calls “the earthquake that shook family structure in the era of expansive anti-poverty policies” has seen out-of-wedlock births increase from 7.7 percent in 1965 to more than 40 percent in 2012, including 72 percent of black babies.

Teen pregnancy is down

http://www.hhs.gov/ash/oah/adolescen...cy/trends.html

The divorce rate is also down

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divorce...tes_of_divorce

Marijuana use is (predictably) up. Abuse of prescription drugs (since they've become an insane industry since 1980) is also up, but that's not something you can really point to discipline for. Most other drug use has not changed as a trend.

I get it, and I love that there are men out there like you. I just don't think there's much difference sometimes. It really is the psychological trauma of someone you love punishing you with violence that is the mind ****. Most spankings that I know of don't hurt very much excluding the real abuse stories we've read in here.

I guess I'm saying that if I smacked my daughter she would be crushed. Me using a hot wheel track wouldn't make it worse. Unless I, of course, made it worse...

As it is MY kid would be looking at me like I've lost control. Not much scarier for a kid.

You need to go back farther than 1990.

Not sure how this helps your case. It was better when young mothers were pushed into marriage when they got pregnant? That's the sort of thing that's going to increase that divorce rate you were upset about.

If you have to strip your 4 year old child naked and hit him with a stick 10-15 times to teach him a lesson, you've failed as a parent.

Plus, it was more than one "whooping".

No it doesn't. It's anecdotal.

My dad went to high school with a kid who tried to pee on his teacher. That was in 1970.

Boom. I win. Anecdotes rule!
