Per Rotoworld, the Raiders are close to acquiring Carson Palmer.

On my phone, so no link, but what the hell do the Raiders have left to trade?

#1)If we wait until then, we are using hindsight. Judging a trade five years from now is pretty easy. But, then, its all in hindsight and second guessing.

#2) Unless you win the Super Bowl, or he goes to five pro bowls and puts up 4000 yard seasons, you overpaid.

He is 31 years old. At best, you can expect five years out of him at a high level.

Those better be some of the best years ever by a QB. Otherwise, it is a foolish trade. The only other way to make this worth it is winning a Super Bowl.

When you draft and hit on a young qb, you have 12-15 years to build the team around him. You have five years. And, in one of those years, you are going to have no first day draft picks. In a second, you will be missing at least one second round pick.

Are the Raiders really that close in your mind?

Do you really see a lot of value here? Lets set aside Palmer for a second.

Campbell played okay, but he wasn't a star. The Raiders didn't win the division last year, and they probably weren't winning the division this year with him at the helm. But, either way, he will be gone.

Barksdale and Jones are both backups. Do you ever see Jones being a starter? I mean, Barksdale....maybe. But, then again, with the struggles on the line currently..... I would expect him to get more of a look.

Pryor- a bit of a project, and now, when do you think he will actually get to play QB? Five years from now?

Now, I am on record that I like the Curry trade. I wish the Chiefs had made that trade.

But, other than that trade.... there is a whole lotta meh at best. And, the Palmer trade is amazing....just astounding.

He was an injury replacement himselft. He was not an original invite.

And, it was based on his 2009 season. It's like me talking about how great Cassel is because he got an injury replacement invite to the 2011 pro bowl.

Palmer recieved an invite as an injury replacement. Cassel got into the pro bowl in the same way.

Matt Cassel's participation in the Pro Bowl forever invalidates any appeal to one's appearance or performance in that game as an indicator of football ability.

Good Lord, the world is ending...Cincinnati made an incredible trade. Two top picks for a retired, injury-prone QB.

I wonder what we could have gotten for Trent Green?
