Giving Alex the 'Joe Flacco Treatment'

The contract talks between the Chiefs and Alex Smith is our big story right now. Especially with his old squad signing Kaepernick today.. this situation gets more and more interesting. A couple of observations of our team...

Defensively, we are as stacked as we are going to be for a long time this season. Chances are we won't play another season with all the talent we currently have on that side again (Hali older, Houston/Berry/Poe with extensions in the nearer future)

Offensively, if all the OTA talk is real and Alex is really playing as well as they say (and the WR's such as Bowe), we are a solid offensive line from perhaps a top 10 offense.

It's fair to say the 'window' is as wide as it will ever be. With possible big contributions from Kelce, Commings, Knile, and other 1st/2nd year players, we may have a Super Bowl bound squad. Which is what leads me to this though: Let the season play out before signing Alex. If he plays well, a playoff win or two? Sign him for 100 million. If he wins a Super Bowl? Give him whatever he wants and a key to the city. If he and the team bombs? Let him walk and use Murray or Bray, use the money to keep our defensive stars.

This is the right plan, imo. Discuss.

Have you even watched the Cardinals' defense play? If you did, you wouldn't even question that they are a better defense than we are.

Rams aren't a projection, they are scary. The have the league's sack leader from 2013. They already have a young DT who flashes dominance in Michael Brockers; they just added the best interior pass rusher in the draft in Aaron Donald who also happens to be the most technically advanced DL player from the 2014 draft class, which means he will make an impact sooner rather than later. They have Chris Long manning the LDE position and is a good pass rusher himself.

Their front 4 alone will give every team trouble in pass protection.

Fail. It's the NFL buddy, you don't come to play you get your ass kicked no matter what.
We beat the Cowboys by 1 ****ing point.

The Rams, a team I absolutely hate and despise, beat the Colts by ****ing 30 pts.

And unlike us they finished...

I would not.

Finding guys with abilities like Houston and Poe (combined with their youth) is much harder than finding role players and depth.

If Rex Ryan was running KC"s defense the results would be so much different. He would murder the world with some of the personnel we have. He'd be getting more out of our guys and hiding their weaknesses so much better. Our depth probably wouldn't look nearly as poor.

Alas, all we got was a poor imitation.

And we get to play them, and the Seahawks, AND the 49'ers, AND at worst a very respectable and young Cards defense...

Some of you all are over estimating what the Cardinals defense is going to able to do. They lost Karlos Dansby again as well as Darryl Washington. The middle of that defense is in going to be trouble for them.

Yeah, I'm inclined to believe this here. We're absolutely awesome at a few positions, but pretty much trotting out garbage at several others.

Darnell Dockett, Calais Campbell, John Abraham, Patrick Peterson, Antonio Cromartie, and Tyran Mathieu. All of those guys are somewhere between very good and elite.

Plus, last season they had Daryl Washington, Karlos Dansby, and Yeremiah Bell who were all also pretty good.

I mean, they had the #1 rushing defense in a division with the two teams that run the most in the league. That would be something like us having the #1 passing defense in the league in our division with Peyton and Rivers.

I'm pretty sure Robert Mathis was the sack leader by .5 last season.

The board that has literally no significance to a person's life or credibility? The board that has multiple so-called fans of this team with literally no faith in their players? I get it we aren't a top 5, maybe even 10 team right now but really? Why use your time on a team so many of you have no confidence in? All of the morons on here who think we have nothing while 90% of the guys getting paid to talk football give us a chance, yeah your opinion sure is something.

Two years ago the two players I absolutely did not want in any round were Mathieu and Bray.

Ironic that the Badger could have been huge for us and Bray might be our best hope as a young QB prospect...
