In the meantime, though, the TCU game was a large collection of Geno's worst plays of the year, where he forced the ball WAY too much and made a lot of dumb decisions. That being said, he also had a handful of stupendous plays in that game (like he does every game). It has and always will come down to this bottom line until April: Geno Smith has all the things you can't teach, including outstanding pocket awareness. That alone is why you should take him with the #1 overall pick. If he gets with a good QB coach, he can and probably will become one of the league's top QBs. That''s what I call value at the first overall pick. |

We must come out of this next off-season with at least two new QB's. If they don't play Stanzi, that means he sucks worse than the inventor of suck "Senor Matt Cassel." So, if that happens, cut his ass. Then get a F.A. vet QB, and draft two. If they play Stanzi and he shows something, get a F.A. vet QB and draft one.

The only extended, full game I've watched up his was the first half against Texas Tech and the full game against KState. Made me pretty uneasy, and I didnt even watch the TCU game. It wasn't his ability so much as it was his composure during the game. I'm sure this has been debated heavily in the Geno Smith thread, though, so nothing new here.

Yeah, I was looking at the depth charts for QBs and I just don't see a fix for you...
I mean, I like Mallet and you're likely not going there again. I would hope he gets a chance, but I'd hate to see him do well in KC. Flynn? Cousins? Hell, Orton was your best bet and Pioli let him go...

I say you target someone like Andy Reid ... come in and start over. Hell, I'm afraid we won't keep Del Rio past this year and could see him landing there with the right GM.
Start off with the right Coach and GM - then just just build from scratch at QB, this may not be the best QB draft, but go get one - build around him and get the team going with the goal of fixing QB later. See the Seahawks and 49ers as expamples of how to do that well. It can't all be corrected in a day.
