Late night bullshit: Chiefs needs, aside from QB.

I love how Pioli looked at the Chiefs performance in last year's playoff game, and he makes priority #A1 to upgrade the WR position.

Added Breaston. Drafted Baldwin. Picked Colbert off the scrap heap.

I think when the season wraps up this year, Pioli's going to look over this team and decide that it needs to have its passrush revamped to help out Hali much like he helped out Bowe.

The problem with this, of course, is that it's muuuuuch harder to rush the passer than it is to run a route and receive passes. As a result, there's really no OLB on the scene in 2012 that are working picking up through free agency. OLB will need to be a very early pick for the Chiefs.

Defensive line will need to be upgraded as well. Dorsey will be in his contract year, and Pioli has no loyalty to him because he was an Edwards pick. It's possible that Allen Bailey is that guy, but the Chiefs need to fortify the position anyway because holding onto Wallace Gilberry will be very difficult. It also isn't clear that Bailey can do much to rush the passer. Dorsey and Jackson can't either, so a DE specialized in applying pressure, maybe?

NT is more of a concern for me than it is for the Chiefs, who may be willing to resign both Gregg and Amon Gordon. But I'd like to see a stud, especially with how well Chapman played tonight for Alabama.

Depth across our secondary should be a concern. The way the league is changing, a team cannot survive without a talented and deep secondary. Resigning Carr must happen, and Berry must recover from his injury. But we need more CB and especially S help.

Offensive line is going to look pretty set, so long as we find a new right tackle: [new RT] [Asamoah] [Hudson] [Lilja] [Albert]. Depth at tackle will also be needed, and other than Darryl Harris, we have no depth along the interior.

We could use another receiving TE option, and a big back at RB, but we all know this.

Here's where I rank our needs:

1. OLB
2. RT
3. RB
4. TE
5. DE
6. S
7. OT

Thye both are starting to show up just a little more.

I would wait and see what HOuston has for a full season before I started crying for a OLB. IF he doesn't show up, I'd take Upshaw in a heartbeat. Hell I'd take four guys from alabama. Barron at safety, Richardson at RB, Upshaw at OLB, and Hightower at ILB. Add those four guys and we are pretty set IMO. There is no way we could add all of them but more than likely 2 and maybe three would be around when we are picking.

Like direkshun said the NT from Bama wouldn't be a bad later round pickup.

I am also willing to bet that Gaither will get some time at RT to see what they have there.

If he can't run all the plays, then hes not the #2 RB. We need a guy that can take 10th carries per game, or can be the RB when Charles is out.

People are acting like OLB is going to be blitzing non stop. In the SD game we only blitzed like 4 times. We need an interior push.

In most pass-rushing situations both OLBs are going to come.

It's a problem.

Do you have a theory on why a guy who appeared to have unstoppable speed in preseason now looks quite slow?

He's learning to use more technique than he used in the preseason, so he's thinking more and not simply getting after the QB.

If you watch closely and compare, in the preseason he was simplyusing his speed.

Now you can see him trying to use his hands more, trying to lean more, trying to get the RT off balance and turining inside so that his speed around the corner is more effective over time.

He's a work in progress, and has a ways to go before he starts to show the kind of polish that Tamba has achieved.

When he gets there, look out.

Yikes, i said in preseason that it might've been a mistake to gain that weight in hopes of being used more on run downs.

He negated his strengths of speed & agility.

He basically just used his speed at Georgia.

He's a work in progress. These things do take some time, he'll take a year or two.

That doesn't mean I'd pass on taking a bigtime passrusher in the 1st.
