Disagree with the bold. The guys who get these positions set their sights on doing this from a very early age, develop and refine their craft, establish their presence in the industry, pay their dues for years, and prep all week long. They are in that position and you're not? There's a reason for that.

I used to listen to Mike do high school games and run sports talk for 3 hours five nights a week. The guy is a total nerd/dweeb, but has been eating, breathing, sleeping and shitting football 24/7 since he was in high school. I heard him speak and he seemed pretty humble, realizing he was living his dream. He's not Al Michaels or even Kevin Harlan in terms of talent, but he's paid his dues and is completely dedicated to his craft and the Titans.

If anything Mitch says upsets you just turn the radio off. He has to tow the company line whether he agrees with it or not.

Why, Mr. cdcox, why? Why must you fling my rare, critical opinions over the cliff of compassion and dash them against the stones of rectitude to be washed finally away by the frothy waves of virtue? I hate defending my own negativity.

I applaud your willingness to defend him and I'm certain that he's worked very hard to achieve his goals. Clearly, he must be ambitious. I deny none of that and give him credit. Moreover, I care nothing about his dweebness. However, we're talking about play-by-play skills. And, setting aside his perceived humility for a moment, so far as his "talent" is concerned, I declare his delivery and tonal texture to be practically unbearable. Honestly, no one I know finds his voice pleasant. He sounds like he just swallowed a muff. Holthus is far superior.

The prevailing attitude around these parts is that he is viewed in light of the great John Ward who seems almost urbane by comparison. Nonetheless, I speak for myself when I say Keith is horrible. His calls are slow, bereft of important detail, sloppy, obviously unresearched, and too often inaccurate. I have heard high school announcers who are superior and I shall hold that opinion until I depart from this world of trials ... or until he has a throat transplant, whichever comes first.

I'll have you know that during the Music City Miracle, he was one of the first to note, and I quote " THERE ARE NO FLAGS ON THE FIELD". That's a monumental talent in any era, wouldn't you say, Mr. FAX?

As for Mitch, I don't care for him. I loved Grigsby, Dawson and of course, Kevin Harlan.

Mitch came in after I left town. I listened to a few broadcasts with him last decade and immediately realized that I would rather listen to Dennis freaking Miller than Holthus.

I always enjoyed the tone/excitement in which he made that quote. It started as a question, changed to a statement, and ended as joy.
