MikeMaslowski, make sure medical documents the hell out of your back pain, and keep a copy of your medical record for yourself. I'm sure you've heard it before, but it is VERY important later on. The VA is a bitch.

The man with a plan.
Two 7.5 usually makes me feel pretty good. 3 for the 5's.

Those of you complaining about the itching have a codeine allergy, which is why they started making hydro/oxycodone. Like Tylenol 3's make me scratch my hair like I'm a f**king tweeker. Since my accident I've tried every type of non-narcotic medication for nerve pain, (or after a SCI what they call spinal cord pain) had nerve blocks all up and down my spine, even went the route of spinal electric stim implant, but it didn't help. I've been on up to 4-40mg oxycontin's a day along with (optional) 8-15mg oxycodone's in between. You'll just go around numb all day long. Thing is after a while (couple years) you don't feel f**ked up anymore and don't realize how stupid you look. I had my family tell me there where times I'd just stop talking in mid sentence or take a half hour to take three bites of food, or some other exercise in dumbassery. I know this sounds crazy but I could quit taking them whenever I wanted. Just needed about three days to ween myself off and I was good. Luckily for me I just wasn't addicted to them. I've seen people go to jail, rehab, etc because of drugs (perscription and illegal). I just don't get how a substance can take over your life. I guess just because I don't have that addictive gene I can't relate. I know it's not a matter of will power because when people go into states of withdrawl and get the shakes and shit it's a real thing. Sure it's all a hell of alot of fun, but to throw everything away over the high you get from a substance? Pass. My nerve pain never goes away or gets any better and it sucks, but I would much rather have a sharp mind and just deal with it. That shit ravages your liver and kidneys. It is crazy how fast your body builds up a tolerance to any narcotic, but especially narcotic pain killers. If you have any type of chronic pain you'll have to just keep increasing the dose to get the same effect or deal with it. Those pills will kill your ass. People die all the time from respiratory failure because they'll take them with BP's like Xanax or valium and they just quit breathing in their sleep. Either that or the long term damage to your liver and kidneys. That and they'll slow your bowels down to a crawl. Constipation becomes a way of life. I haven't taken anything in over a year and yeah my pain always sucks, but I'd rather remember what I did today. It's a vicous circle indeed.
And to the question I'm sure I could take 5-750's even today and just have a nice buzz. I use to be able to take 3-40mg oxycontins chew them up and wash it down with a few beers to get the same buzz I got when I started taking 2-5mg oxycodones. Crazy shit man. |

READ THIS INFO:
Pay attention to the earlier post on Vicodin. The 7.5's have 750mg of Acetaminophen. You cannot take more than 1000mg of acetaminophin every 6 hours or your liver will have damage...no kidding. Taking 3 of these means you have taken 2250 mg of it at one time. Anymore than 4 grams in 24 hours and you are asking for serious trouble. It doesn't take much over the 4 grams in 24 hours (4000mg) to damage most peoples livers. Add some alcohol on top of that and it is even worse. I used to sell pain medications and ER doc's will tell you how many patients come into the ER with liver failure because they ingest too many med's that they don't realize have acetaminophen in them at the same time.

I can't believe we still can't make a good pain pill.
Hydrocodone with acetaminophen does nothing for me either. Just makes you feel like your on strong cough medicine. Numb but it's no good. what about this chart Mike? http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/medi...comparison.htm |

Ask your doc for "Tramadol" It is not a "Class 2" narcotic and works much better for me. I've got some pretty bad arthritis in my feet. Not good for a retired workaholic. "Tram" really helps me make it through the day. |

CPhT. Most of my mentors in the Army was the driving force behind creating CPhT. I was grandfathered in because I had taken the tests before CPhT existed. I've worked as CPhT for 12 yrs in the Army and 12+ years as DOD civilian for the Army.

I sometimes get pain in my lower back and my doctor prescribes Flexeril. I get the generic version for $4 for 30 pills at Walmart. There is no high, but the pain goes away. It also will make you a bit drowsy.
A few years ago I had severe carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands and took oxycodin for a few weeks until I had surgery. I found oxy worked great the first week and then I sort of became immune, it would no longer effect me after that. |
