College Students

So, classes started today here at nwosu. What kind of classes are the college students on here enrolled in? How many hours you taking? How long are you on campus for them?

I'm enrolled in 16 going M,W,F 8-12 with a 3 hr night class and a 2 hour thursday lab.

I have General Biology and lab, Middle Ages, American Colonial Period, Police Trafficing and Enforcement, and a 3 hour general humanities class.

Don't know anything about humanities, is it a type of art history class? The book for it is 180 bucks. Everything else was a lot cheaper. My sister spent well over 700 on her books.

http://www.half.ebay.com/textbooks

If you buy your textbooks at the U Bookstore go early and get used if you can. Otherwise check out this link, I've gotten some awesome deals on it.

I'm in 17 hrs. right now. Realized that a history degree wasn't leading me where I wanted to go, so I'm Business/Marketing right now and working on a double in Interpersonal Communications. Also, usually work around 30-40 hours a week so I'm a decently busy guy.

I'm a senior this year at NWMSU. I just finished up an internship with Metro Sports in Kansas City, and I absolutely loved it. I'll be doing more stuff for them throughout the year. My major is sports broadcasting, obviously, and I'm minoring in visual journalism. I strive to be an anchor.

The first day of classes is Monday, August 25 for us. I'm enrolled in 14 hours, MTWThrF classes. The only class worthy of noting is my Theories of Mass Communications class because it has a 30% pass rate, basically meaning most of the people in the class are taking it for the second time sadly. I'm going to eat, sleep and bathe with that class, and remember proudly that D's get degrees, at least with this class in mind.

My spring semester will be cake with me only needing seven legit hours, the rest will be filled with one hour recreation courses such as volleyball, tennis, racquetball and insert any other pud class.

This year won't be that easy but I intend on having much more fun than I usually do, since it is my LAST year of college. I started the school year off right last night by fooling around with and getting a bj from this chick I barely know. Nothing new for me as I am a whore, but my mind is now refreshed and ready for a full year of fun whilst meeting and studying new student bodies of the female variety, mixed with furthering my knowledge of my soon-to-be profession. It's all about multi-tasking.

I want all the underclassmen to know one thing: The only B's worth getting are BJs. Good luck this year with your studies and extra curricular activities and may you excel at everything you do.

Fred Lamer may be the toughest professor on campus, but he's an awesome dude. I'd talk Bearcat football with him after class when I had him two years ago.

Chemical Engineering...

Senior Process Design, Math Methods, Kinetics, and an online Engineering Management Economics class.. then I'll take about 5 credits of research... so I won't have much football time.... this sucks. Why can't I just find a job which requires me to just sit at home??? I should have been a programmer....

I'm taking the final class I need to graduate and I have a bunch of newspaper stuff. The big thing is figuring out where I'm going to go after graduation. I have some ideas but nothing is set in stone.

This thread brings back memories. Nightmares actually. I hated college. One trick I used to avoid buying textbooks was checking to see if the library had a copy. If they did, I didn't buy it. Some of those prick profs would change the textbook frequently so that there were no used ones. Sharing one with a buddy worked sometimes also.

My girlfriend is going back to school to get her Masters in Business Ed. I went up to the bookstore the other day to get a list of the books she needs and for Christ sakes those things have gone through the roof!

The last time I had to buy college texts (2001) the MOST expensive book I ever bought was a brand new Organismal Physiology text with lab manual and that was $90. The most I ever spent on texts in a semester was just over $500. Some of the books I saw the other day were close to $200 alone! I can't imagine what a biology major pays for books every semester. Unreal, I don't know how you all afford it nowadays.

Pell grants, loans pay for my books. Wish I had a real job to pay instead of loans.

Sweetness, I found my General Humanities book on amazon for 75 instead of the 160 at the bookstore.

I have five classes, four of them are ITV (classes on the t.v. because there are four campuses). I hate those classes, luckily all but one has my professor in the class and not on another campus.

I'm teaching Water and Waste Transport, a required senior level course in our department. I'm also coordinating a 1-hr review course for the Fundamentals of Enginnering exam. I'd normally teach another course, but I have a new position that has a lot of administrative responsibilities. On top of that I have my research load. I've been home long enough to wash down two bean burritos from Taco Bell. I'll be putting in 12 to 14 hour days over the next 2 to 3 weeks. Hopefully it will calm down a little bit after that.

My girlfriend earned an assistantship which includes a stipend, so that should take care of books. When I was in school I had a job where I worked 39 hours a week (cheap ass grocery store chain). That gave me enough money for books, the commute to work and to pay what few bills I had. I had a Geo Metro which has a 6 gallon gas tank and got 50 mpg on the highway. Of course this was back when gas was never more than about $1.75/gallon. I also lived at home, so that was a huge help. Books were a pain, but I could afford them. If I were in school right now, affording a half hour commute plus $700 a semester in books on about $1.50 over minimum wage might be kind of tough.

I love Fred, he's my adviser. He's wrong in thinking Johnny Unitas is the best QB of all time though.

If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't go to college except for learning a specific trade or as a tool to get into a professional school (lawyers, doctors, etc.) I'd either join the service and let them teach me the job of my choice (while paying me) or try to start my own business. College really sucks and it's not for everyone.

Nice! I do the same thing. I saved around $600 or so last year doing that.

What do you do for the next 15.9 weeks after you tell them about buckets?
