ESPN predicts Smith to Broncos in 2020

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2...l-team-2020-qb

Quote:
Denver Broncos

2020 QB: Alex Smith

Primary QB from 2014-16: Peyton Manning
Total team QBR 2014: 72.1 | 2015: 49.0 | 2016: 46.0

When the Chiefs let Smith walk after 2019, the Broncos (still vainly attempting to replace Peyton Manning with Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler, Paxton Lynch and 2018 draft pick Luke Falk) snatch him up to see what he has left at age 36.
However....

Quote:
Kansas City Chiefs

2020 QB: Patrick Mahomes II

Primary QB from 2014-16: Alex Smith
Total team QBR 2014: 50.1 | 2015: 60.8 | 2016: 58.0

The Chiefs keep Smith after he leads them to a Super Bowl LII win over Philly, but Mahomes takes over midway through 2018 when the Smith magic fades. Mahomes dazzles with big plays and frustrates with big INTs. As for Smith? Read on!

Will be SO glad when this deal is done( for real, wherever he may go )and these idiotic articles disappear.

That said, there is literally nothing I would love more in ALL THE WORLD OF SPORTS than seeing Alex Smith trot/clop on to the field in Elway Orange.

Please God make it happen.

Yep, I agree and think that is where he will end up. Maybe we trade him for one of their OL studs, or all of them. Parnell? Robinson? Omamah?

I, quite frankly, could not give less of a shit where Smith winds up going.

Teams that need a QB to be considered a contender will still be nothing more than pretender with Smith at helm.

If I thought that useless sack could lead a team to the SB, then I would have no interest in letting him move on.

What an idiotic post. Calling a QB who has 18 TDs 1 INT and leads the NFL in QB rating a 'useless sack' makes 0 sense..

Idiot

He's had 4 good to great game, and reverted back to the same sack of shit he has always been.

That useless sack is never going to lead anyone to anything but heartbreak.

Enjoy your useless sack.

These thin skinned Alexsexuals would fit in perfectly at the mane with the high percentage of actual Chiefs fans who get banned for minor things... they would love it.

I doubt he is, but oh lord - the pandemonium would be pretty ridiculous around here.
I would have no problem with it. With your offensive line which is worse than ours in pass blocking Alex will skip the happy feet routine and demand to play shot gun while rolling out in every play just to stay alive while continuing to miss wide open receivers and checking down every time with a 20yd run here and there. Enjoy

Seriously though I think Elway either has Eli or Andrew eventually at the helm. Cousins is not dynamic enough for Elway Does Elway take a chance in this next years draft of a plethora of good QBs coming out if the Broncos only stay at 3 wins allowing a high draft pick ? Elway for all his great FA moves in getting Manning,Welker,Sanders,Ware,Talib,Ward and drafting a great defense went for the short term kill initially as a GM as he should have thus winning a SB in the process.

However, Elway has failed miserably drafting for the future on the offensive side of the ball which has caught up with him. Defense gets an A but offense gets an F. Failed Qbs, failed offensive line, failed RBs, failed TEs and failed WRs. Which I find ironic since he is a HOF QB. Elway has a big ego and is not a patient guy and just signed a 5yr extension and why I think he makes big moves this offseason. I predict VJ is out as HC at the end of the season as the death spiral continues for the Broncos. VJ is waaaaay in over his head and you can see it. I really believe the players have already lost confidence in him and has lost the locker room this quick IMHO. But let's face it Elway hired VJ because he thought VJ would be a competent "yes man" as a coach. VJ has the "yes" part down but he is just not competent in the managing/coaching part of the team. And this is Elway's conundrum as a big ego NFL HOF QB that still wants to call the shots "on the field". Elway does not do well with other "alpha egos" (a la Fox and Del Rio). Elway needs a Jason Garrett type.

I doubt Smith is back next year. We’d have to be just off an AFC title game appearance or Super Bowl and he’d have to had played a part in it, not ride the coattails of the defense again. And with this defense that’s not happening. He’s gone though IMO. This team isn’t a serious contender anyway. But the schedule down the stretch will get the homers pumped up for another letdown in January. There’s more issues on this team that need addressed, but QB is still one of them. The last four games have shown that again.
