Entire offense is a mess ...

... from top to bottom and is becoming a real concern.

Play calling is predictable and isn't helping anyone. Must get receivers the ball moving forward instead of standing still. Can't have every route within 10 yards of LOS.

Alex Smith seems to be getting worse. Not only does he not try to make the difficult throw but now he is missing on the easy ones.

Olinemen take turns getting beaten or making penalties

WRs don't win even the 1-on-1 battles with any consistency and still drop too many balls. WRs often run their route and then just stand there until play is over.

Even Jamaal Charles has been making mistakes. Missed blocking assignments, dropped passes, failing to stay in bounds at the end of multiple games.

If Tony tuned in today, he would have saw a KC QB that could've been outdone by Tyler Thigpen.

It's like people are mad because our strength is our D. When we go against a team like Denver, this offense is going to be exactly what we need. Dink, dunk, eat the clock and keep Manning on the bench then turn our D loose.
They need to get it together but overall that is how we are going to beat a Peyton Manning.
Dinking and dunking, controlling the clock, is the formula, for sure.

The problem is that this dinking and dunking offense hasn't consistently sustained drives.

They've shown up in 4th qtrs, until today.

That won't get itt done against Denver.

If he's a game manager (and most of us think he is), then it's time to see him manage some games. Because so far we haven't (in any game) seen that from him, or from this offense. People seem to think "not turning it over" is game management. It's not. It's that plus moving the chains, sustaining drives, taking time off the clock, and generally contributing something to the team's efforts. It's kind of amazing to watch, because the defense is basically doing it on their own. 3-and-out? No problem! We can stop them again and again. We're winning time of possession in these games basically not because we're controlling the ball (cause, well, we're not...) but because our defense is so good that they make opponents' offenses perform even worse than ours. Game close, look like we're in trouble? No worries, we'll get a sack and a turnover? Seem too close. Not a issue, let's return a pick for 6.

It's crazy. Maybe they can sustain it for 16 weeks. Maybe they can't. But if the offense starts to do anything consistently, puts some drives together and generates a few TDs on their own, I think we're going to be one of the more difficult teams in the league to match up with.

He doesn't "manage" the D, and the D won today's game...
This. I've been okay with Alex Smith to date. Today, he looked horrendously bad. He HAS to make quicker reads. Even if the o-line improves, I haven't seen him make quick enough reads for that to matter.

One thing I don't like about Reid's scheme is how often he sends all his guys downfield. He needs to get some guys underneath. Also, Dexter provided a nice change of pace for that one drive where we used him back-to-back. I hate when we force-feed him, but Reid needs to use him more creatively. That, and I think it proves that you need a change-of-pace from Charles, and I don't think Knile Davis is it.

We need better receivers, but today proved once and for all that Smith HAS to give Bowe some tough ones to catch. Stop waiting for a guy to roll wide open. I'm done with Avery. Knile Davis is becoming a liability and it's clear the Chiefs just don't trust him. And the o-line needs to get a lot better.

Smith better figure his shit out fast. Oakland and Tennessee have good defenses, but they may be creating a blueprint for other teams to copy.

I'm just gonna start putting everything keg says as my own posts. He's killing it.

Really, it's not as if they have to be the broncos offensively. If they could be for an entire game what they were in the second half against the giants, we could beat anyone.

Yes and no. We managed games decently well the first 4 games. Smith was terrible on third down efficiency against Tennessee, but never felt like our defense was strained. THis game, our complete disaster of an offense put the defense on the field way too long. First game I felt we did that, and we got housed on time of possession.

We finally found some rhythm in the 3rd quarter, but were terrible on offense otherwise. Just a shitty game for Alex Smith.

We had 5 3 and outs this game and 1 of those was due to the end of the 1st half. You guys seems to forget the days when it took us an entire half just to get a 1st down.

That's because it was the first time this season it has happened. For all the doom and gloom being cast about our offense, this is the 1s time in 6 games we lost the ToP battle.

I am pretty positive on here and I agree 100 percent. It has got to improve. The defense has been historically good so far.

Abortion is probably a little harsh. Inconsistent is more like it. I mean, we have put together some very long and time consuming drives this year when we needed too so you can't sell them short on that. Today was just shit.
