This is a VERY good post.

Between him and Chuck Cook, who I think has done a good job is helping find talent in the later rounds, I think we'd have some pretty good drafts.

I'd give Mike Trgovac and the Ryan boy in Baltimore an interview for the HC position.

But I wouldn't limit myself to just one candidate the way that Carl has every time he has had to hire a HC.
I would hire milkman, and just go play golf for the rest of the day.

Herm is good motivator. I don't know why, but guys play hard for him. I would have thought that by being a poor X and O's coach and sounding like a 2 bit preacher that speaks well but ultimately says nothing, players wouldn't listen - but they do.

Since his strength is motivating (and developing good secondaries) he has to rely on his OC and DC for the X's and O's and gameplans. This is where Herm fails because he hasn't, IMO, surrounded himself with good coordinators. I just don't understand keeping DV's assistants around when Herm has such a different philosophy on both sides of the ball.

For that reason - pink slip.

EDWARDS: No, I have not.”

The defensive-minded coach of the 90's was INFINITELY better...making the playoffs 80% of the time is much better than making the playoffs 20% of the time, regardless of the actual playoff game results...

Playoffs? Playoffs?

Shouldnt success be measured by Championship games and Super Bowls appearances???

Just making the playoffs is a start yes I know, See backing in last year...

Marty is Marty, Fired from a 14-2 team.... You can keep Marty...

We need a balanced coach that wants to build his defense to crush you and run your ass off the field by outscoring your opponents on the road...

We need to play to win the game...

Um, I NEVER suggested that we needed Marty OR Herm.

I suggested that hiring an offensive coach wasn't the answer. See Dick Vermeil.

Ultimately, I want a balanced coach. And I want to win a Super Bowl.

But this team has to learn to CRAWL before it can walk, let alone run.
