Legit work from home jobs?

Seems like there was a thread about this at some point in the past, but I'm feeling lazy tonight. Anyway, the wifey is kinda sorta looking into jobs where she could work from home. We're considering going the kids route at some point in the next few years, and she'd like to be able to stay home with the little buggers for at least the first year or two. However, it would also be nice to have at least some income coming in on her side during that time.

So, has anyone had any experience with jobs where you can work from home? She's thinking something clerical, so some sort of data entry or telephone work maybe. Anyway, any tips or suggestions on where she might be able to get into something like that?

Ha ha yeah. I had these amway people call me a loser because I kept asking them to show me HOW they made the money (without me signing anything). They just kept repeating their stupid "financial freedom" mantra over and over again until they finally got back into their leased car and left.

I was in a room in I think Albany Missouri once, where I was "an idiot" for missing the Million dollar boat ride, for doing nothing but talking to friends and family and all buying products we use every day through this catalog! WOW>>>What a bargain!

This poor guy I know is in the middle of filing for bankruptcy while simultaneously turning to peddling acacia berry juice in a pyramid scheme in hopes of bailing himself out. Sad really, because his family are all getting roped into the scheme because they know he needs help.

LOL... What a visual !!! Iowanian I don't own a 200' yacht but if I ever do I'll name a toast after you as I remember this discourse

If we had a decent educational system everyone would know something called the 80/20 rule. In every large institution/organization/business 80% of the power/influence/success is enjoyed by 20% of the people. It's just as true of a sales force: 80% of the sales will be made by 20% of the people. It's always been this way and always will be this way ~ yet there are some... people... that think 'going along for the ride' (your words) will make you successful! 'Going along for the ride' doesn't sound like 'having a burning desire' now does it? 'Going along for the ride' is what employers hate in employees. 'Going along for the ride' is gauranteed to keep you poor. Get the picture? Perhaps it's not the business that failed you, perhaps it's the attitude that you brought to the business that caused you to fail?

The cool thing is, you can decide whether to be a part of the 80% or the 20%. Success isn't about what degree you have, who you know, or how smart you are. Being successful is about (in case you missed it the first time) having a burning desire and being coachable.

On this BB, you can always count on the same small group of guys to get lathered up about this subject. I hope you'll continue to take the bait because I, for one, find it hilarious to hear your philosophies on life and success... So Iowanian, Brock, & Vailpass, how would you advise parents to be able to afford to send their kids to Harvard? How would you teach them to have the time freedom to be there with their kids when they leave for school and be there when they come home ~ as well as going to all the little functions and plays during the day? How would you instruct someone to raise themselves from poverty to the point that they can let their family enjoy the beaches of the world? You're all obviousely such experts on the subject, I'd love to hear your plans

By your cynicism you do more to open up people's eyes about the opportunities in front of them than I could ever do.

Please do.

Its not my fault, but every post I read of yours on this subject, I can't help but think of Burt Reynolds, the senator covered in vaseline on his yact in Striptease.

As for me...I'm fine. I'm going to be fine.

You denised the question though....out of all the people who have ever bought in under you...what percentage have even gotten their money back? What percentage of have become financially independent? A lot less than your 20%

I met a guy once who was all stoked on the acacia berry thing. Then he started all this stuff about how he was writing off everywhere he drove because he had an acacia berry magnet on his car, and how he was writing off his den as a home office, and so on. I didn't care enough at that point to turn him in, but I hope he gets nailed at some point.

And interestingly, he didn't talk about how much berry juice he was selling. It appears that his primary business was illegal tax writeoffs.

Shocking, isn't it?

Not that I have a lot of faith in government, but those are government numbers and unless something has changed dramatically in the last few years, they are basically accurate.

The number I had trouble getting my mind around was the 45% that depend upon government or family. Then I got to thinking about all the people that have banked on, and couldn't live without, their Social Security check and I realized how true it was.

My sister does the medical transcriptions. She seems to really like it due to the flexibility it gave her raising her kids. She does as much as she can during the day and finishes up her quotas when her husband gets home from work or at night after the kids go to bed. If I remember the company she works for put her through training, provides her with a PC and pays for their HSI connection.

Interesting. Any idea where she found the place? The thing I can't figure out is whether you have to find someplace local, or if there are better ways of getting into it. There are tons of places online, but I can't figure out which one's better than the others.
