2008 Gambling Challenge - Week 7

The betting windows are open for week 7 wagering!

The Dallas/St. Louis match-up is offline right now, pending the decision on Tony Romo. As soon as something is posted online, I will get those lines up.

The following people have not bet in the last two weeks and must place a wager this week or be disqualified, per contest rules.

Headsnap

No one was disqualified this week for violating the rule.

There were a lot of casualties this week. The following people are currently looking for employement (or a high-interest loan).

ArrowheadHawk
DaKCMan AP
Hoover
Iowanian
KcKing
kstater

PLEASE read the rules here
. The number one rule you need to remember is that editing your bets is not allowed and is subject to immediate disqualification.

Remember that You must bet at least once every 3 weeks or you will be disqualified.

Above all else, lets have some fun!

How to read the lines

Sample line

Thu 9/6 New Orleans Saints +6 +223 OVER 52.5
(Date, VISITING TEAM: Point Spread, Money Line, Over/Under)
7:30 PM Indianapolis Colts -6 -243 UNDER 52.5

(Time, HOME TEAM: Point Spread, Money Line, Over/Under)

How to bet the Money Line

Sample line
SAINTS +223
COLTS -243

First off, a money bet is a straight up win/lose bet. No points involved, so of course there are odds payoffs.

If you want to bet on the Saints, you will win $223 for every $100 that you bet. Conversely, for the Colts, you will win $100 for every $243 that you bet.

In other words, the team with the - money line is the favorite (therefore lower payout) and the team with the + is the under dog.

Placing Bets

PLEASE
, format your bets like this:

Colts (-6) $5000
Chiefs (+142 money) $1000
Chiefs/Texans (Under 38) $2000

House cleaned up on Monday night again. There were a few Pats bettors, but the great weight was towards the Donx.

Seriously, my lack of homework is killing me. I didn't know all the Denver WRs were injured, etc., and then Cutler injuring his finger and their RB getting hurt (Pats mauled him) only compounded their offensive woes.

I figured their high-flying attack would decimate the Pats pathetic secondary. Not so much...
I had no intention of betting that game until I saw an "insider" jumping hard against his own team. Doh!

You're welcome. If it makes you feel better I'm close to wiped out.

Maroney on IR, Pats down to 2 RBs, ineffective running and short-passing attack, the Patriots 1-5 or something absurd against Denver during the Belichick era, and a woeful secondary against Denver's high-flying attack. Seemed to me that +3 was a no-brainer. I never bet against my team on principle, but I just couldn't see winning by more than a figgie.

Oops...

broncos (+3) 5k
broncos (+150) 5k

Your figures were wrong. I'll see if I can explain, it gets kind of messy.

Your original bet:

tampa bay (-445) $5k
titans (-9) $2525

screw it, gotta bust out of the slump one of these days.
Then you added this contingency:

Neither of your contingencies were entered because at the time of kickoff for these, you still had money riding on the Jets, Texans and Bucs games. I showed your balance at this time at $4,798

Starting balance: $22,525
Dolphins (-3): $5,000 loss
Titans (-9): $2,272.50 win
Jets (-3): $5,000 pending
Texans (-400): $5,000 pending
Bucs (-445): $5,000 pending

So,

+22,525
-5,000
+2,272.50
-5,000
-5,000
-5,000
----------
4,797.5 (rounds up to $4798)

Therefore, neither of your contingencies were entered and your balance BEFORE the NE/DEN game was $17,171

Hope this all makes sense. Let me know if it does not.

Please be careful entering your bets people. There were a couple of more errors that I did enter because I believe I knew their intent, but I will no longer be doing this.

From this point forward, any bet that is posted with the incorrect line or teams will be invalid. Please proofread your bets before hitting the button.
