When you refer to "he", you are talking about Howser, I'm assuming? Still, the early 80's Royal teams had strong pitching.

Plus, IIRC, they had a "drug problem" during the end of the '83 season, where the Royals almost literally cleaned house, and people thought that '84 season was going to be a rebuilding year, but they suprised alot of people.

What I didn't know is that Cecil Fielder was part of the Royals before he was traded to Toronto in '83.
