Chiefs sign practice squad

NFL Roster Cuts: Chiefs Quickly Establish 8-Man Practice Squad

The Kansas City Chiefs released 13 players over the weekend but announced on Sunday that eight of those players would be returning to the practice squad.

Here's the list of the Chiefs first practice squad:
  • NT Garrett Brown
  • DE Dion Gales
  • RT Bobby Greenwood
  • G Darryl Harris
  • QB Tyler Palko
  • DB Ricky Price
  • WR Verran Tucker
  • LB Pierre Walters
I'm not too surprised at any of these. Palko woud be one quick transaction away if Matt Cassel went down.

What do you think of the practice squad? About what you expected?

I fail to understand why Palko should be on practice squad.

As are the Rams.

Nice scouting, Pioli.
In no way am I boasting on the Chiefs '09 draft class. But, a lot of the actual scouting falls in the hands of Herm's scouting department. This years draft was actually conducted by Pioli's hand picked scouting crew an should be a better determining factor in how the guy should draft in the future.

Actually it doesn't, Pioli froze them out and made the picks he wanted to make. That draft is on him.

That's a fact people like to forget, that the '09 draft was handled by Peterson's scouting staff, and that they were nearly all fired the day after it was over.

Yes and no. The problem was when Pioli froze out Peterson's scouts and he absolutely should not have done that. Stupid to not at least listen to Peterson's scouts. I do agree that the 2010 draft is much more representative of how we'll draft moving forward.

Scott Pioli didn't use any of the info acquired by the Cheifs scouts in the '09 draft.

He used the info he had accumulated from the Patriots scouts while still in New England and brought in a buddy to help him conduct the draft.

That '09 draft is all on Pioli.

Wrong.

Gretz reported that Pioli tossed the Chiefs scouting reports in the trash and used information strictly gathered by his New England people for the 2009 selections.

It's a fact.
