I hate 9/11

The 9/11 Doom and Gloom celebration puts a bad MOJO on the Chiefs every time.

I Hate this holliday.

I am obviously being misunderstood here. I am meaning no disrespect to the people that died. Just the dog and pony show and how it seems (to me)
to affect the chiefs. It sucks how things can be taken out of context when in text.

I'm unbelievably fortunate I didn't know any victims or troops who died as a result of the chain reaction of events. But you should be sensitive to the fact that there are probably hundreds of people on this board who did.

So I understand you were trying to be facetious. But don't be defensive about what was said. It was a mistake to say it. Let's move on from that.
Thousands of people will die today, many in horrible fashions. For every person killed in the 9/11 attacks, there is a man, woman, or child who is murdered every day in a horrible fashion. However, most of these people are outside of our borders, which is why many do not care about them. Should we grieve for 9/11 victims more than others simply because they were Americans (some were not)? Seems pretty selfish to me.

First of all, the 9/11 attack was one of the largest instances of mass genocide and destruction in American history. So let's not act like this is the same as one person getting killed in a senseless act of violence. Second of all, and more importantly, this isn't just about remembering 9/11 victims. This is for all the people who risked their lives in search of survivors and to defend our freedoms, a fight we're still fighting 10 years ago to this day. Not to mention the devastating toll this had on the psyche of millions of Americans. This was a disaster that devastated not only people, but our economy and our ability to live normal lives ever again. I'm sorry, but I don't think Jewish people are selfish for remembering the Holocaust. Why would it be selfish to remember the events leading up to 9/11?

Trust me, I'm not into gooshy stuff either. If you choose not to remember it, that's fine. But let's not pretend this isn't really important stuff to remember. And, no, I don't think it's an appropriate topic to joke about.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
