VARSITY
Clash of the Sitcoms: Round 1, Heat 1.

We have 124 nominees for favorite sitcom of all time. We will have 25 first-round battles, which are a five-way war.

I will present five TV shows, and you can vote for your favorite three. The top three votegetters will move on to the next round.

And without further ado, but with a pleasant and catchy introductory theme, I present to you the first five contestants.

Edit: you maroons missed some really good shows, so the number of nominees now tops 130 as I sifted through some "best of..." websites.

Didn't he win Best Comedy Actor 3 times and then get nominated 3 other times and turned it down saying he didn't want to see other great characters not get their due?

I first wanted to vote for the Big Bang Theory, but decided to go with Night Court. It's a classic.

The episode of Martin when Martin and Cole go to the midget bar to start a fight is one of the funniest sitcom scenes I've ever seen.

He was great. I loved the episode where he ran for office and lost to a dead guy (later duplicated in real life by John Ashcroft).
