McCoy had a pretty fair rookie season, but seemed to take a step back last year.

He still has some upside potential, and I think he gets more respect from his teammates than does Cassel.

Once they paid him the bonus that was due this year, they guaranteed he'd be there this year, no matter what.

If they wanted out of that contract, they needed to release before that bonus kicked in.
