How long have you driven to get something you wanted?

I am going to embark on a 11+ hour (one way) trip to Oklahoma to pickup my dream car. What kind of dream car is it? I'm glad you asked, I am going to purchase a 1984 4 door Buick LeSabre limited, this is the 3rd one I will own. The other two were sold years ago. I am getting a great deal on this car $1900.00 and it only has 46k miles on it. It's from a dealership in Wagoner OK. Anyways, I hate driving, especially on a long road trip, but for this car I will make the Voyage.

How far have you driven to get something you wanted. Obviously this will be over the weekend so I can get back to work Monday.

1.45 hours for Jack In The Box.

$#itting in a dirty truck stop with more force than the blowhole on a whale was a small price to pay after over 8 tacos and a double burger...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Secondly, I am a big man, currently I am about 330lbs, and I am 6'6. So the old big body cars are what I fit in the best and most comfortably. The first car I ever had was a 84 4 door LeSabre with a salvage title, I loved that car. At that time I wasn't close to the weight I am now, but my height was close, and I fit in that thing perfectly. The 84-85 LeSabres ride like lazy boys because they have that crushed velour interior, but they have a V8 that can scoot also. I will keep this car mostly original. I have no plans on putting rims or hydraulics or any of that non-sense. I will change the radio though.
Well, I live in a condo with a one car garage that barely holds my '06 Impala, so a '79 Cutlass isn't really an option for me.

And I get you on the second point. I have a friend who's about 6'3" 400, and he has a hell of a time finding a car to comfortably fit him. The old tanks certainly fit the bill. Although he picked up a new Volkswagen Passat last week that he fits in pretty well.

Awesome.

Yeah I don't know if this counts but I drove from Tulsa to Indianapolis to watch the Chiefs not get a first down until the 3rd quarter in a playoff game against the Colts. We drove out Friday night and headed back as soon as the game was over. Didn't get into Indy until about 3 am. Slept in a fleabag motel, woke up for the game, watched us get our fudge packed, and then headed on back.

I had hope too when Ty Law intercepted a Manning pass and ran it all the way back to the 1 yard line. Then we went 3 and out and Tynes donked the field goal.

Oh well. It was a pretty good time. Indy was an ok town. The opposing fans were really nice. The bars and shit downtown were LOADED with Chiefs fans. The part of the stadium we sat in was LOADED with Chiefs fans. This fat poor Indy fan was surrounded by us. We all were calling it Arrowhead East.

The worst part of that day was I was $.85 short, and the asshole delivery driver made me stick my thumb in the butt of a honey badger to get my icecream.

worth it except for those few times I need to show people 5 fingers.

Drove 6 hours out for the last dog; 12 total.

Drove 7 hours to look at a truck I was pretty sure I was going to buy...until I saw it was a POS. So in essence I drove 14 hours for no reason whatsoever.

Before we got Culver's all over the place, my wife and I would occasionally drive up to Kopp's, north of Milwaukee, to get frozen custard.
