I still don't understand how a QB with 16 TDs in a spread offense was looked at as a great QB. I thought many hated the spread because of how it inflated stats, yet people ignore how subpar Gabbert's #s were.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - it will be interesting - assuming this franchise ever decides to select a QB in the 1st round - if this fanbase will give up on him after a poor rookie season. Based on the comments in this thread, and hundreds of others, I can't see the fanbase having the patience necessary. Then again, this fanbase has bent over backwards the past three years to make excuses for a 27-30 year old career backup. An interesting situation, to say the least. |

Yeah ****ing right. The thing you keep leaving out is just how bad Gabbert played, and im not even talking about his numbers, but actually watching him play. You either have it or you don't. We could tell right away that Cassel didn't have it. We can also tell that Gabbert doesn't have it either.

Indeed.
TRUE franchise QB's don't turn to goo at the slightest hint of a pass rush. Certain things are hard to fix in a QB. Being a Pocket Pussy is one of them. Gabbert had the worst case of phantom pressure i've EVER seen. The idea that Chiefs fans wouldn't have patience for a Rookie QB because we can see that Gabbert is the worst QB in his draft class is hilarious. If our 1st round QB even put up Ponder like production, this fan base would be sucking the teet.

Look no further than Ricky Stanzi for teet sucking. The dude had a mediocre Preseason and has since been hailed as the savior.
If the Chiefs had a 1st rnd rookie QB, this fan base would make excuse after excuse for him. Hell, the whole reason Ricky Stanzi doesn't get a chance to start is because of Haley/Pioli/RAC, right CP? IT couldn't have ANYTHING to do with him sucking?

Instead, he's thrown into the shittiest situation in the league. Again, I'm not saying the kid is going to pan out. I am saying that declaring a QB a bust one year into his career - especially in this situation - is foolish. And you can't even compare this to Cassel. MC had been in the league for years, and when he got his shot, was surrounded by the most prolific offense of the decade. Getting coached by one of the greatest coaches of this generation. If your weaknesses are evident while being surrounded by talent and operating a game plan meant to hide those weaknesses, it's safe to say you're probably not a very good QB. |

So what you're implying is, those QB's would be accepted in KC, but are shit because they play elsewhere? Yeah, that's an objective way of looking at things. |

If he was failing, they'd make up every excuse in the book. Bowe doesn't get seperation Brandon Albert is not a Franchise LT "X" OC sucks "X" HC doesn't know how to develop a QB Some how, it'll be Pioli's fault for not doing enough of something. You know it's true, lol. As far as Calling Gabbert a bust.....It walks like a duck, talks like a duck..... You of all people know that there are certain crucial traits that you want to see out of your QB in his first year....What did Gabbert display that would give fans hope that he is "The Man"?
