Is there ANY chance that Quinn can become another Rich Gannon-like QB for KC?

He's a 1st round pick. He has to have talent. Maybe he's matured and learned how to be a starting QB while holding the clipboard? He has better mobility than Cassel. He has a much better arm than Cassel. I'll bet he has better accuracy than Cassel. He needs to have better decision making and leadership than Cassel, which won't take much. That's a pretty low bar. Can Quinn shock the world and become a worthy starter? We can wish, can't we? I think the odds are 1 in 765.... maybe 764.

(check)
Then he'll win a few games and show some talent.
Then the starter will come back from injury and suck balls.
Then the Chiefs will let him go via free agency to the raiders who will ride him all the way to the Super Bowl. **** Yea.
Gannon didn't show any more (or less) talent than Grbac did.

They were nearly identical in EVERY category, including W/L.

The defense and running game carried that team, just like every other year under Marty.

Gannon's tenure here is pure hype and nothing more.

I don't get that either.
He has a grand total of 12 NFL starts.
That's way too small a sample size for a former #1.

There is no ****ing way Quinn can be worse. What, is he going to throw 20 int's instead of 14? He can throw the ball past 15 yards right; then he is automatically better than Cassel.

I don't remember that. I remember Grbac making boneheaded decision after bondeheaded decision and the only good year he had was his last here.

I suppose anything is possible for Quinn. He can't be any worse than Cassel. I hope.
Thank you!

This is what drives me nuts when people talk about Gannon. The guy never did a whole lot until that 1997 season after Grbac went down.

As for Quinn, my thoughts are that Quinn should have already been given a shot. It should not take an injury to get him on the field. I'm holding out hope that he hasn't really gotten a chance to develop/mature and KC has plenty of talent on offense for him to succeed.

Best case scenario is that he does well and leads the team to the playoffs. Worse case scenario, he sucks and we draft a QB high (which is actually not worse if said QB turns out to be a good one). And if Quinn sucks, that just shows that Pioli is an idiot for not bringing in competition for Cassel. Whatever happened to drafting a QB every year?

Didn't Gannon win MVP under Gruden?

The absolute worst thing for this franchise is for Quinn to come in, be average and play 500 ball.

It's been debunked many, many times.

1997:
Grbac was 8-2 as a starter, Gannon 5-1.
Grbac completed 57% of his passes, Gannon 56%
Grbac had 11 TDs and 6 INTs. Gannon had 7 TDs and 4 INTs.
Grbac had a 55yd long and 6.2 ypa. Gannon had a 47yd long and 6.5ypa.

1998:
Grbac regressed horribly (2-4 as starter, 5 TD, 12 INT, 52% completion) but Gannon was the SAME GUY.
58%, 10 TD, 6 INT, 6.5ypa.

Gannon's stint here is PURE HYPE.

No, let's hope for 2.
Because we're certain that with only 2 wins Clark will clean house.
And it'll be awesome to have key free agents defecting to other teams.

That'll be peachy keen.
On to the next rebuild!

Well, yeah, there is that possibility. I hope for plays great and we get to the playoffs or he plays bad and we suck. No in between.
