Packers lose LT Bulaga to ACL

http://www.packersnews.com/article/2...eason-torn-ACL

Ok Boys, who's in favor of trading Albert to the Packers for their 2014 1st rounder? He's worth it to a team like the Packers. Heck they could probably work out a long term deal. Tough on the Chiefs, especially Fischer, but its not like we don't have the bodies to make it work.

Im not sure why they dont, but I think the braces are restrictive. I had the one that is supposedly used in the NFL (It looks like the one RG3 is wearing in camp). But you see QBs use them, so I dont know why OL wouldnt.

I wouldn't trade Albert for anything less than a second rounder.

If we play him this year and let him walk after the year, we get a third round comp pick for him...and we would have him for this year.

If we can get a second for him, do it.

I wouldn't trade a top 15 player at his position for anything less than a 1st if he's under 30.

And I'd argue Albert is a top 10 LT...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I'd take a high to mid second. I could see their second and a fourth or fifth.

My condolences to Packer fans. That's a tough way to start the preseason.

Trading Albert also let Fisher move to his natural position to start his career. I still maintain that a lot of his struggles in early training camp are from playing away from his natural position.

I'd pull the trigger for a 2nd or higher as well.

All this talk about sending them Albert. Come on. They'll plug in somebody random we've probably never heard of, Rodgers will continue to be Rodgers, and they'll make the playoffs yet again.

I don't know what type of back-ups they have for LT.

They might be desperate. The Packers want to win championships, simply making the playoffs is not what they're about.

Or it could be because we drafted a guy who never really faced top talent in college and only elevated his status based on combine workouts.

Potential over production...

Yeah and the only other viable tackles are Derek Sherrod (is he injured yet?) and rookie David Bakhtiari.

Most likely they will move Newhouse back to LT then hope and pray that Sherrod stays healthy while Bakhtiari gets up to speed.

The more I think about it.. it'd be tough for them to sign Albert to a long term deal. In 2014 they'd have 3 first round Tackles on the roster...

Flashes violence in his initial hand punch. ... Good recoil and settle in pass protection. ... Massive player who can absorb the bull rush and anchor effectively. ... When he plays with leverage can be a very effective drive blocker. ... Ascending prospect who flashed foot quickness and balance in two starts at left tackle in 2007.

Negatives: A bit top-heavy. ... Can struggle against lesser players when he tires and plays with too high of a pad level. ... Good quickness to generate initial block, but too often doesn't sustain long enough. ... Flashes nastiness, but needs to play with more consistency. ... Marginal lateral quickness to pull.

Stephenson's combine analysis:

STRENGTHS Stephenson is very quick out of his stance, and this is his one shining quality. Has good footwork and is a lateral mover who can get beat by strength but recovers well to not allow sacks. Good when puling and working in the open field; has more value as a mover and second-level blocker. He can be nasty when finishing plays and is reliable to not allow sacks.

WEAKNESSES Stephenson is not very strong despite his size. Always in a stalemate and forces himself to use footwork. Quick off the line, but not explosive. Can get blown back by more explosive players in pass blocking

homerism liking the younger player with more potential and is cheaper on the salary cap? That also has the ability to be an NFL starter today? If that's homerism by all means.
