You guy seem to be missing the point...I'll take the win, but the defense won us this game. Not the offense, and sure as hell not Alex Smith. I will give him this though; he didn't turn the ball over, and he made some good passes to Avery on third down when it was important. He didn't shit down his leg like Cassel when the pressure was on. I'll give Smith that much...
However, if we are going to win in this league when it comes to big games, we better do something more on offense than what we have. There were times this offense looked very reminiscent to the very bad offenses we've had in the past. They ended the game on a high note...but for how long can our defense continue to mask this offense and bail it out? There will be games where the defense will need the offense to do more than punt the ball away. I am loling at all the butt hurt negs I've received though! Keep em coming CP!!! I always thought red was more fitting for a Chiefs message board anyways... |

It's amazing how many people can watch the same thing but see totally different things.
Especially when you consider how poorly our O-line played, Alex Smith played one hell of a great game. |

and now, comes out the eagles are terrible on defense thing. I guess the Chiefs are terrible too on defense with you logic. After all, they gave up over 200 yards rushing....... Would you say that is true? I wouldn't. I would say that in the first half, Andy Reid was severely outcoached. They dropped 8 guys on any passing down, and had guys BLANKETED, while their three guys constantly got through. It wasn't until that 4th quarter drive where andy switched it up, stuck Charles behind Sherman, that the Chiefs truly gained anything really significant on offense. The offense is a work in progress. Lots of new parts, new scheme, short week. Avery is new, McGrath? Brock? Alex Smith, Eric Fisher....all new parts. Short week, tough place to play on the road. Shrugs.

Alex Smith is a guy that needs a clean pocket.
simple as that If you give him one he can be very effective, if not he's going to look sloppy. Game manager type category we spent too much for him ... but time to move on

Pretty much. We also spent too much for Cassel. And the parallels continue!

How historically has Peyton manning looked when he has no protection? Think back to his on the field break down with Jeff Saturday when he was getting crushed by the Steelers. Tom Brady struggles with no pocket. There are exceptions. Aaron Rodgers, is about the lone exception, and perhaps drew brees. They are the two that I think thrive when a pocket breaks down. Kaepernick struggled with no pocket, as did Russell Wilson.

As much as I like to poke at Smith for having a few panic button Cassel moments, the guy IS NOT Cassel.

With Cassel the Chiefs lose to Cowboys and Eagles.

The throw Vick delivered in the face of getting lit up by DJ is something I fear Smith will never be able to do. No one wants him to get lit up, but at critical points in games we're going to need him to step up to make the throw in the face of adversity without hitting the panic button.
