Then there's Tony Basil's Mickey. That some may just be the epitome of evil in music (right there with Boy George's "I'll tumble for ya), and the video hides it with a cheerleader's skirt. |

Hate to use real names [MoF, I won't], but hopefully these people are dead with this point, but somehow, in 3rd ****ING grade, we'd decided who the king and queen of the world were. And it was a 'hot' girl named Blendy Blarkle [if she liked you for her clique, your big pink eraser got a capital 'W' which was her first or last initial depending on how you held your eraser], and a boy named Blobby Bwlofskill who decided to 'date each other. For some reason it was already established that Blobby's nickname was 'Mickey.' Then this ****ING song comes along, and all the sudden, the king and queen of the world have a song about their shitty 3rd grade romance at the top of the pop charts. You wonder how people get imprinted with the notion that the world is aligned against you [or for you], have the world's newest form of music entertainment, MTV, blasting a video celebrating the dating habits of two 8 yos who happen to be the most popular kids in your class BY NAME.

It is sad that stupid song/video is all most people know about her. She is an extremely talented woman with an interesting body of work. (BTW, she conceived that video before MTV existed.)

One of my favorites and my wife hates me for it.
Was the theme song to the 1984 World Chess Championships in Iceland.

BTW, aren't we really all talking about what song should be in second place? First place is pretty much a given:
