If it was a duel you could always yield. Lots of sword fights during tournaments and such.

Just hope you are okay with wool because every bit of clothing is made out of it or leather.

Silk was really expensive and unheard of in most places. Good cotton for making thread is a new world thing.

Not in Tudor or Elizabethan England. Silks, satins, linens and velvets were worn with abandon; many with beautiful embroidery. There were early versions of lace.
No matter the rank there were enough changes of linen to last a week. The upper classes would have more changes available and they were also exquisitely dressed. Even the men outdressed them at times.
