I gotta say that my favorite play is the sack, especially from a defensive tackle.

The idea of having the athleticism, power, and technique to beat a super athletic 330 lbs lineman to get to a quarterback soon enough to prevent a pass by overpowering him and throwing him to the ground just seems like an impossible task. Especially from the interior of the line. Even moreso when the quarterback is athletic or built like a tank.

I still contend that the best sack I've ever seen, from any player, ever, was Derrick Johnson's sublime "rodeo sack" of Roethlisberger back when the Chiefs upset the Steelers at Arrowhead in 2009. I've lost the YouTube to it -- I'll rep anybody who can dig it up. But it was truly a work of freaking art.

A pulling guard lighting up a crashing down defensive end is very fun to watch.

DT's best sack was on Jeff George.

There's something about a great punt return, too, especially if you're in a spot in the stadium where you can see it all unfold.... it's one of the more chaotic plays in football, yet a few people/units can make it look choreographed.. well, or are really good in the chaos.

The play I remember was our punter doing a fake punt and throwing long (punter's name escapes me). It went like this...punter throws long downfield pass toward the gunner's route. Gunner runs under ball for a reception. If the gunner was blocked while the ball was in the air, it was pass interference or defensive holding...first down either way. Play worked beautifully, gunner caught the ball and I've never seen it again. Any reason why this wouldn't work again?

I think this was under the Shottenheimer reign.

Agree. And while not the halfback option, pretty close. I like the halfback option, and I think it needs to be used more regularly, just to keep the D honest. It doesn't always have to work to impact the game, but it prolly needs to be at least attempted once or twice a game to ensure the defensive coordinators are making sure they game plan for it.

Louis Aguilar.
They had just moved into the practice facility, and in practice, he was throwing the ball up instead of punting it during scout. Marty noticed they looked just like punts, so against Seattle he tried it. Popped it way up, and the receiver ran under it.
Great idea, and I'm shocked it hasn't been used more.

Doubt most punters have that kind of arm and I'd guess punt blockers are a lot quicker than they were as a whole 20 years ago.

It doesn't matter if it's only for 30 yards...just make sure it has a punted ball arch...still a first down...
