They failed completely on it...the killing joke section was pretty good but I felt it wasn't R worthy and the book was edgier than what they showed.

I'll just say it.

Batgirl, Robin, Batdog... whatever sidekick you wanna go with, I think, weakens the stories so much about 90% of the time.

Look at The Batman animated series that started in 2007. 3rd season they introduce Batgirl, and then next season they add Robin. It takes a southward plunge as soon as they become featured characters instead of used organically when the story calls for them to be part of it & makes sense based upon the plot.

Btw, anyone know if the drawer who did the initial artwork for that show worked on Ĉon Flux? There's a lot of style similarities- especially in the 1st 2 seasons. They obviously tweaked and screwed with it for season 3, like replacing the opening credits music which was originally done by The Edge for a mash-up that sounds like a mix of Hawaii 5-0 and West's Batman series theme music.
