A clear difference to me even when Watkins doesn't catch a ton of passes. He still forces defenses to be spread much thinner. It seems like Kelce might benefit the most from Watkins being in the lineup.

If Watkins being in or out of the lineup didn’t make a pretty darn big difference, KC wouldn’t have paid him $16M per year.

They go from one of the all-time great units probably to just very good without him.

I agree with the second part. With the first part, players get paid tons of money all the time in FA and don't work out. His actual contract numbers aren't really proof of the kind of impact he has.

However seeing our offense without him is starting to become proof. It's happened a couple times and dropped off each time.

Mahomes still has Hunt, Hill, Kelce, a solid OL as well as decent complimentary players in Ware, Conley and Robinson.

Mahomes should be able to succeed with that group.

Succeed—sure, but he does make a big difference imo. Maybe even a TD worth of points per game.

In fact, in the 8 games he played for every quarter, KC averaged 37.5 PPG. In the two games that he missed at least 3 quarters in, they averaged 26.5 PPG.

I’m not saying that’s all him but it means something for sure imo. Similar effects would be seen if any of their stars were out. It just so happens that it has been Watkins so far.

Even without Sammy that’s still the best set of weapons and surrounding cast in football.

I still think a big part of the issue is Andy pulling up with a lead in the 2nd half. He absolutely did that last weekend.

If we are in a shootout, Mahomes will put up 40+ points with or without Sammy. You guys forget that he made Albert Wilson look awesome in Denver last year.

Big difference when he does play & when he doesn’t.

You must have been too busy suckling Eric Berry’s Haglund heel to notice that the Chiefs two lowest scoring games this season were when Watkins either didn’t or barely played.

Watkins presence is underrated in this offense, despite the many other weapons available.

I have watched about 6 videos tonight - but one said that Reid expected Sammy to play - earlier today he said this, apparently. So he'll play - cool it.

Watkins will play. Not worried at all.

Just like Talib who is able to play as well BUT he doesn't want to have to go against Watkins and Hill all night while trying to babysit Peters as well because of getting burned continously.
