Please link us to an informed site that says that teams can only use this exemption for one player.

Thanks in advance.

That annoys the hell out of me too. Why do some people make it racist to root for a white guy? They're both respectable players, making far less than star players, yet producing on special teams and a little as starters from time to time. Both of these guys earn what they're paid and don't hurt the team financially.

All successful teams have a sausage type of guy regardless of talent.

What a stupid statement. I love that Sherman and Dirty Dan are on the team. My favorite re-signing so far is Mike Pennel. Is it because he's black?

I cant because there are two exceptions. And I listed 3 guys who qualify who are making more than Sherman.

This is the 3rd time in a week you've been a dumbass.

It would be stupid to use the exception on a guy making less than the max amount. And regardless of who is using it, as long as there are more people qualified to use it, its not free money for one person.

The way you wrote it sounds like it was for only one person. But it seems that whatever salary you give a guy with over 4 years on the team automatically gets 1.5 million off. So wouldn't it be stupid to not use it for everybody over 4 years? (I'm guessing it is an automatic adjustment to their cap so you don't even "use" it)

I guess I just don't understand your argument.

There are 2 exceptions, each worth up to 1.5 million that would not be counted toward the cap. Say Sherman signs for 1 mil and we use the exception on him. That means his contract worth 1 mil doesnt count against the cap. That means we wasted .5 mil toward the cap that we could have used for someone else or rolled over to the next year. If we use the exception for kelce we get to not count the full 1.5 mil of the exception because kelce makes more than that. Since we have more than 2 guys that qualify using the exception on sherman would be stupid and a waste.

Signing sherman isnt stupid, but hes not free.

Where did you get the 2 exceptions from?

I was under the impression the $1.5 million applied to every player that was on their 5th year with the same team.

Either way...it was a savvy addition to the CBA. To add an incentive for keeping rosters in tact...too many players switching teams waters down the product. It's good for business to keep the territorial aspects in play...fans become attached to players.
