Raiders Trade for Carson Palmer

Per Rotoworld, the Raiders are close to acquiring Carson Palmer.

On my phone, so no link, but what the hell do the Raiders have left to trade?

SO SWEET!
Watch Carson Palmer sit on the bench for his first game.

I can't tell if you follow the NFL or not, but I'll clue you in on some stuff. Following the NFL draft, analysts will typically "grade" a team's draft. It's pretty neat. Anywho, when a front office full of asshats drafts 3 QBs in one draft (historically unprecedented because it's sooo god damn counter intuitive).. well you get an "F".

oh, and Taiwan Jones. kewl job dudes.

First of all, Montana and his "wasn't all that good with the Chiefs" took us to the AFC title game his first year as a Chief. Second of all, Green is/was better than Palmer.

Last but not least, you only trade two first round picks (one potential first round, but even a second rounder the following year is full reerun for a QB like Palmer) for a QB like Brady or Rodgers. Not for a QB like Palmer.

Typical Raider move. Al is gone but the suckage remains.

VARSITY
CINCINNATI -- Carson Palmer's knee injury was "devastating and potentially career-ending," involving numerous ligament tears, a shredded ligament, damaged cartilage and a dislocated kneecap, his surgeon said Thursday.

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback tore ligaments in his left knee when he was hit by Pittsburgh's Kimo von Oelhoffen on his first pass during the Steelers' 31-17 playoff victory Sunday.

The team announced that he had torn the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments. The damage was much more extensive and severe, but Dr. Lonnie Paulos said surgery went well and Palmer could be back for the start of the season.

Palmer had surgery Tuesday in Houston. Doctors used grafts from other parts of his body and donated tissue to fix the damage during an operation that lasted more than two hours. Palmer headed back to California on Thursday to do his rehabilitation.

"It's not just like it was a torn ACL," Paulos said Thursday, in a phone interview from Houston. "It's a magnitude more difficult to recover from and repair. It can and has ended careers, without a doubt.

"However, I feel very comfortable with Carson as an athlete and the heart that he's got. In the end, that's the bottom line. I can see the look in his eye already. He's ready to get going," he said.

Paulos, an orthopedic surgeon who has worked with the U.S. Ski Team since 1983, replaced the anterior cruciate ligament, which runs through the middle of the knee and provides stability. He said the medial collateral ligament, which runs along the side of the knee, was damaged "real bad."

"On a scale of one to three, it was a four," he said. "It was off the chart. It was pretty badly damaged -- shredded is the better term."

The kneecap dislocated when Palmer was hit, damaging tissue around it. There was also some cartilage damage, he said.

Raider oline doesn't suck

Barksdale and Jones are both backups. Do you ever see Jones being a starter? I mean, Barksdale....maybe. But, then again, with the struggles on the line currently..... I would expect him to get more of a look.

Pryor- a bit of a project, and now, when do you think he will actually get to play QB? Five years from now?

Now, I am on record that I like the Curry trade. I wish the Chiefs had made that trade.

But, other than that trade.... there is a whole lotta meh at best. And, the Palmer trade is amazing....just astounding.
Why does everybody on this site think the Raider's oline sucks> Have you watched the team play? They have given up the fewest sacks with the least yards lost in the league and have opened up holes for the running game. I don't think they are all world, they do take too many penalties (like the rest of the team) but they are a strength of the team this year.
