Would they eat half? If so, I would see that as an incredible opportunity for the Royals.

The Dodgers would have to eat at least half of what left on Kemp's contract, but if they'd do that, it's worth talking about.

Prospect price might not make sense at that point for the royals, not sure how high it would be.

Why do you say "at least" half? He's owed (basically) 21.5 per through the rest of his deal (2019). Royals can easily handle around 11 per for Kemp, especially with Butler coming off the books next year.

What kind of prospect we likely to lose for that price?

I have no idea. I'm probably completely wrong because I think the Dodgers want to get rid of his ass to open up a spot for Pederson.

Mid-level prospect or two + Herrera + some contract relief? No?

I agree, I think the price is smaller than people assume. Dodgers can win without Kemp and his bitching surely isn't helping the locker room. I think they'd eat half to move him. They seems to care little about spending money. I'd be all aboard that move.

I have no idea if the Royals are even remotely interested in Kemp. I've heard that the Red Sox are, which should tell you something considering that they just traded Jake Peavy away.

I do know that Kemp views himself as a CF. I'm fine with that. Move Cain to RF.

I also know that he has the potential to be a superstar, something this team hasn't had in a long time. If it takes some prospects to get a chance at that, I'm fine with that risk.

We can jettison Butler after this season and use a much cheaper option at DH who would likely provide much better offense than what we're getting.

Last year was an injury write-off. This year he's struggling. But based on the 4 years before that, it looks like a classic buy low scenario and unlike Shields, we'd have him for awhile.

You're either all-in or you're a seller in my opinion.

Matt Kemp is complaining about playing time yet he has started 49 of the dodgers last 51 games

Kemp was somebody I mentioned when we were looking at Beltran. Dodgers need a reliever. We need an outfielder. Other than his salary it makes sense for both franchises. Kemp is somebody that can rotate in at DH next year as well.

Can't believe DM blew 20M on three bullpen guys and Chen. The last has been one of the worst pitchers on our rotation in Moores entire term here. Small markets can't allocate precious resources like this

Unless you can promise me that the Royals would have spent the 20M elsewhere, I really don't care how much they are being paid. If it was Chen and Hochevar vs having Coleman and Collins in the bullpen the whole year, what does it really matter?

Kemps not going anywhere. Dodgers have 3 possible outfielders that are up for a trade. 2 of the 3 bring nothing to the table. The 3rd being Kemp is actually beneficial. So ya. If its anyone its Crawford and or Ethier.
