I thought the NFL changed IR so players can come off of it after missing 3 games instead of it being a full year.

He's played 1 position his entire career and he's injury prone, it's not exactly a great recipe as a backup. Backup OL usually need to be able to cover several spots.

Long is on PUP, but you can't put someone on IR unless they are on the final 53 if you intend to bring them back. Long's ship has sailed and probably sunk by now, so it's time to quit talking about him.
