9th was both yardage and drives ending in an offensive score.

Pretty simple concept.

I explained why he didn’t neglect the offense. I stated that he still had Kelce and you turned it into essentially “he didn’t draft Kelce” so it doesn’t count thing.

Having Kelce on your roster still counts regardless of who drafted him. That’s a pretty simple concept.

It doesn’t count for Veach.

Again, simple concept.

Here you go, @megatron

https://www.pro-football-reference.c...s/kan/2023.htm

Turnovers were the culprit.

9th in yards, 10th in drives ending in points, 6th in plays per drive, 8th in yards per drive and 10th in points per drive.

23rd in turnovers lost.

They moved the ball just fine. They didn't score as much as they could have because they were sloppy with ball security. Scoring is gonna be down when you turn the ball over 1.6+ times a game.

The offense would have been good if they scored more….

Wow, if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle.

Thanks.

See, what I looked at were things like

pts/gm: 14th
Yds/pt: 22nd
Pts/play: 16th
TDs/gm: 18th
3rdQpts/gm: 19th
4thQpts/gm: 32nd

etc. and so on.

I mean, sure in some metrics we were okay, like 3rd down conversions, we're 6th. Yds/play we're 9th.

But as far as actual scoring, KC wasn't 9th.

But if you remove the drops and turnovers they would have been mediocre.

Yay!

Thanks. I'll take a look later this afternoon. Gotta get back to work.

But they didn't move the ball just fine. Rewatch the MIA game during the regular season. Or the 17 consecutive drives between the AFCCG and the SB when they couldn't score a TD.

While you're at it, see how we couldn't even get into scoring range for a FG through most of that stretch. And then go back and look at the last 9 or games of the season and see how many times we couldn't do the same against some pretty shoddy defenses. I mean, we went long stretches where we couldn't even get into FG range. With Butker perfectly healthy and kicking like a HOFer.

That's just not acceptable.

I feel you, but we don't have to be dicks about it. Don't want to have a pissing contest here. Not yet, anyway.

I will.

With the same personnel, cut the drops in half and last year is a Top 5 offense.

Hell, you could make the argument that this type of "small ball" offense actually HELPED our defense.

Now, if you say you WANT the offense to be more 2019-22 like, fine.

Does it NEED to be? Absolutely not.
I hate the trust issues just as much as the drops. Clean up the drops and we still have WRs in all the wrong spots. Mahomes can find a way to elevate talent. But he can’t do that if he has no trust that the WR is where they need to be or attacks the ball as he should. I never want to see that look on mahomes’ face ever again where he looks impatient and blows up on the sidelines.

The bandaid fix of mahomes getting kelce and rice 25 targets and refusing to even look the way of cardio guys defenses don’t even bother to cover isn’t a long term solution. If we want him spreading the ball and getting better at reading defenses, then bare minimum get him guys who can just do their basic job.
