Shooting at TDKR Midnight Premiere in Aurora, CO. Multiple dead.
At least 10 moviegoers were killed and 39 injured at a cinema in the Colorado city of Aurora in the Denver suburbs. They were attending a midnight showing of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.
The theater was packed with a lot of people, many of them young fans, at the time the shooting started, 9news reports. The violence erupted some 15 minutes after the movie started, witnesses said. Some say that when they first heard the shooting, they thought it was some new type of special effect. Local media reports that two gunmen were involved in the rampage. An explosive device was set off during the shooting, injuring several people. Witnesses said the gunmen were probably wearing body armor and gas masks and used some kind of a tear gas bomb in the attack. Some reports say police have apprehended one of the assailants while the second one is still at large. Police have cleared people from the scene over fears that another explosive device might be on the premises. Aurora medical services were alerted to attend to the large number of injured http://www.rt.com/news/shooting-dark...er-aurora-654/ WOW |

Awesome. I know it's dumb, but I love hearing stories of people that have excessive means helping out those that don't for no other reason than they want to help. |

3% is considerable, though it isn't the gift that matters but the giving.

Copycat attempt of killings Authorities in Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties have foiled what they believe would have been a mass shooting by a man who was about to be fired from his job, police sources tell ABC 7 News. Law enforcement sources tell ABC 7's Brad Bell that the suspect, Neil Prescott, 28, was taken into custody in Crofton on Thursday night. According to officials, the man was facing termination from his job as a subcontractor for Pitney Bowes, the document, mailing and shipping company. “I am a joker and I’m gonna load my guns and blow everybody up,” he allegedly said, according to documents. He was also wearing a T-Shirt that said: "Guns don't kill people. I do," when authorities took him into custody. Prescott is being held for a psychiatric evaluation and charges are pending. "We can't measure what we prevented here," Prince George's County Police Chief Mark Magaw said. "We averted a significant...and violent episode." Prescott is being held for a mental evaluation at a hospital. Investigators say a search of Prescott's home turned up more than 20 guns, including assault rifles and handguns, and thousands of rounds of ammunition. He had a Maryland state gun collector's permit. The guns appear to be collected legally, authorities say. DOCUMENT: Read the search warrant that led to Prescott's arrest. Law enforcement sources say the suspect allegedly called a former co-worker and threatened that he wanted to shoot his former boss. He went so far as to say he wanted to see his supervisor's brains "splattered all over the sidewalk," according to court documents. The threats were made on multiple times on separate phone calls, police say. Prescott even acknowledged that it wasn’t a good idea to say these things but said them anyway, police say. Another law enforcement source says the suspect was prepared to act on his threat. Pitney Bowes' Maryland offices are located in Lanham. |

He didn't have to give them shit though. It's not like anyone would have ever said a word if Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers didn't give the victims of this shooting 100 grand. Plus he might get more people to donate money.

It is, I agree. My point is that he didn't have to do it. Nobody would have questioned him not doing it. But, unless there is some motive I haven't seen, he saw the tragedy and it affected him in some way - and whatever way it affected it, he wanted to help for no other reason than out of the goodness of his heart.
