Prometheus actually works as a stand-alone film, though. If not for the last 12 seconds, you really would have no idea the two were even linked. |

Watched Source Code. Loved the movie until the last 5 minutes of the movie. It should have ended after the kiss with the camera panning over the people laughing in the train. The whole "alternative timeline" storyline that went on after the kiss is half past stupid.

no, it was rumored it was, but it was not. It does take place in the Aliens "world" though.

I was impressed by Sinister. Very few jump scares (only three, by my count), and sufficiently creepy.

As for it being a prequel, I read an interview with Ridley Scott (I'm sure you can google up tons of them) and he said in a nutshell that Prometheus did start out to be a prequel, but then at some point he decided to get away from that as he "wanted it to be able to stand on it's own". I was under the mistaken impression that the action happens on the same planet where the original Alien took place...it doesn't. Not the same planet, not the same time, just the same universe/dimension...whatever you wanna call it. Visually stunning....but the story itself, as Virus pointed out, has so many holes it's laughable. And certain characters behavior is truly laughable. "Aww, pretty lil fella, come here!" Sheesh. I wanted ANSWERS DAMMIT! here's another good one Virus...
Spoiler!

I'm not sure. I would guess it was for old man Weyland but I couldn't understand why they'd even point out that it was only calibrated for a man in the first place.
I think it was a plot device to require the chick to be awake during the surgery. You know, to create a more intense scene or whatever. |

Glad to see i'm not the only one who was very disappointed in Prometheus, outside of the visuals.
A big, empty spectacle. |

I would love to know what bundle of sticks robot boy said to the engineer at the end. Ridley Scott said they had subtitles at first so you'd KNOW, but then removed them with the idea that it'd be better to let the audiences imagination fill that in. sonofaBITCH that pisses me off!
DAMN YOU RIDLEY SCOOOOOOTTTTTTT!

Huh.....thats what i thought as well? They did a bad job of getting that across to viewers then. The ship that crashed and the way it landed looked exactly like the ship in the first Alien movie. Why would they want to confuse their audience like that?

Finally saw Lawless. I really enjoyed it. Tom Hardy is the man and some of the violence was brutal. Guy Pierce was one of the most detestable villains I've seen in a while. I still don't like Shia Labeouf and thought he was a total douche throughout the whole movie. At least he got his ass beat. Also the movie needed more Gary Oldman, because he's the best actor ever.

Not really a movie but really funny. "Radio play" written by Eric Idle. Stars Eddie Izzard, Billy Connolly, Tim Curry, Tracey Ullman, Jane Leeves, Russell Brand, the hotness that is Sophie Winkleman and Jim Piddock. Tons of double entendres and one of Billy Connolly's Characters is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. |
