California Taqueria off Southwest was tex mex, sorry. The most popular dish was the burrito spread. Two burritos smothered in cheddar cheese. That isn't mexican. MY favorite mex place is Bickelmiers (sp) meats on saturday mornings. Great tacos el pastor, great carne asada, and killer tamales.

I meant the old Nick's Railroad? on 20th+ and Main St. with the train in the ceiling. Watching "The Deuce" with the hookers, pimps and business customers kinda reminds me of the place in the 80's. Midwest Hotel and all

I have been away from KC too long as they didn't do that when I was around. I used to assist a photographer who took pictures of their meat in knife and butcher supply catalogs and someone had to eat the meat afterwards (). I have always liked the place but Warner's Market in Mission (before closing) was where I bought personal meat as I had a business within throwing distance and I used Fisher's Meat on Troost for large purchases of Prime meat. I used to buy skirt steak from Bichelmeyer's as no one else had it when I needed it back in the 90's. After marrying a ranchers daughter I didn't need a butcher very often. I now have "The Savory Swine" when I need a butcher but I try to buy direct from farmers now days.

None taken.
My SO gives me enough crap about it as she looks 10 years younger than her age. I listened to a comment from a coworker of hers when looking at a picture of us saying: "So that's your dad?" and I have never lived it down...

I always ate at the SW Blvd location (a lot) because I had a warehouse in the same block and thought what I was served blew Ponak's and Manny's away. It was fantastic compared to Annies!. But then again, the kitchen knew my name and I had done favors for owners and bartenders alike.
I used to drink at the Lee's Summit location (a lot) as the bartender took care of me and most of the bill...due to history. Only had 1/2 price appetizers and they were decent to share with wifey. North Oak and OP were the same way as they kinda reminded me of Annies SF. Owners came from a Westport Mexican rest. (3 amigos?). I never ate a meal there, barely even went there but when i did drinks were strong and cheap due to history...
