Geno Smith fans roll call
NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):
The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314 WHY GENO SMITH? If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388 Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him. GIF #1:

GIF #3 (My favorite):

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE? Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story. Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist 1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick 2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out 3. [X] Hire new GM/coach OPTIONAL (but highly recommended): 4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno 5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert Last edited by RealSNR; 01-04-2013 at 12:32 PM.. |

You know what the delicious irony is in calling him "checkdown"? The word "checkdown" means to literally CHECK down. It means your first read isn't open, so you go to your outlet, thus "checking down". So either he locks on to his primary receiver or he's "checkdown". He CAN'T be both. |

Yeah, I know we got Charles for him, but this is a passing league and the RB position is not used as much anymore and it's the easiest position to find. It pisses me the **** off that Jared Allen will go into the HOF as a top 10 pass rusher of all time as a Viking. Goddamnit **** YOU CARL. |

Pioli wouldn't have had those picks. He'd have let him walk in FA and cut his replacement after 9 weeks.

I feel like Junior Siavii should be mentioned, too, while we're talking about DTs that were drafted high and sucked donkey d*ck for KC.
I think Star Lutleilei has big bust potential. And even if he doesn't bust, he is "just OK but not impact player." If you're drafting a DT No. 1 overall, it had BETTER be a guy who is a monster pass rusher and disruptive run defender. Star was very good against the run at Utah but has not been a pass rushing force in college. He isn't going to go to the NFL and all of a sudden become a pass-rushing force. That just doesn't happen (not with DTs, anyway). Maybe someday KC fans will stop being cowards. Martyball scarred this fanbase pretty badly, I think. Too many people still convinced its 1993 and you can win by being awesomer at the LOS than the other team. Too many people convinced you have to run, run, pass to win. I mean, can you imagine the reaction when Reid's O throws several passes in a row? A good portion of the fanbase is going to freak out about "Throwing too much!"

QBs at Senior Bowl will see Cover 1, Cover 3 & throw base route tree. That's it. More about technique, footwork, skill set. This is probably the reason why Geno declined. The questions people have with Geno are mainly his football IQ for a pro style offense since he's played in the spread for the last 2 years. That's what the combine is for. Some of Tyler Wilson's biggest questions are his footwork and his weird throwing motion. I bet he knew about this and wants to prove to NFL coaches that he can improve on those things. Clearly a lot more to gain for Wilson here than Geno. |

Perhaps you're correct RunKC. I think Wilson is simply the QB competitor in this draft. I will not complain if either QB ( Wilson or Smith ) are KC's #1 pick but TW is one tough QB.
He is probably elated about the opportunity to compete without having 2 defenders hanging on him and another in his face within 2seconds of the snap. Combine gives him another opportunity to compete. No way he passes up on it. |

I think he's ecstatic that the only real QB competition he has is Glennon. It won't be hard for Wison to look good. I think Wilson's stock is going to go up considerably after the Senior Bowl. |

I think there may have been a sports station from Houston that had a podcast and daily updates that was pretty good. I don't remember the station.
