Which train would you have boarded? The Geno Express? The Stick-With-Cassel Special?

Yep. I had hope at 7 down but once it went to 10; good ****ing night.

Seems like the haters feel some vindication. Its misplaced. Smith wasn't the problem last night, sure he had some bad throws mixed in, but honestly he was playing well enough to win that game. We run a west coast O that relies heavily on rac yards, maybe it's the wrong O for the personal, but it's what Reid runs, and I don't think they'll change it 11 weeks into the season.

The problem is the short passes aren't being turned into big gains. Receivers fall down after the catch or get little blocking help. One play I noticed was the 26 yard pass to Bowe, ot was well thrown, he caught it in stride, but he fell down immediately after catching it, in a perfect situation, bowe could get another 10 or 15 yards out of it. Its what the Broncos do, they get most of their yardage after the catch.

Exactly. I doubt if a better QB would be available in FA next year. Cutler anyone?? Drafting a QB means sitting him behind Alex for a year or two and by that time the current D's core would have been that much older. So the wise thing would be significantly upgrade weapons around him.

The other thing bothering me is Reid's strict devotion to the WCO. It almost makes me think we are stuck with limited options at QB. Would Reid change his O to suit the QB?

And what exactly are the contributions of Pederson and Childress?

True, all inbreds.

So when you were watching Chiefs games the past two years, you were very satisfied with the quarterback play? Satisfied enough to not want change? Cassel was the best option for 2013?

I realize I am coming across as dense, but I have just never heard any rational person suggest that we should have kept Cassel. It's amazing, really.

I usually do my best to stay out of this thread as it pisses me off, but I just couldn't help myself after that performance last night.

To your argument, I honestly just don't know what you're seeing. Their offensive line through 2011-2012 was one of the best, ours is one of the worst. Vernon Davis is probably the third most dangerous TE in the league behind Graham and Gronk, we're essentially trotting out warm bodies. They had Crabtree, Manningham and Moss, we have Bowe, Avery and McCluster.

Our one claim over them at the RB spot is dampened by the fact that their ground game was more successful than ours is currently.

To me, there is no argument.

If Cutler's available, things get interesting. He's had experience in both Shanarat and Trestman's WCOs.

There were a lot of players falling down last night. Cooper on the big pass, Bowe -- all of our receivers kept stumbling. Nerves, I guess?

Do you really believe that Smith is no better than Cassel? If so, well, I guess we don't really need to be having any kind of serious discussion.
I think AS is Matt Cassel version 2.0.

The biggest difference between this years team and last years is phenomenally better coaching\organization structure and the QB not turning the ball over.

people in KC would shit a brick if they had to deal with Cutler and our current Oline/WR/TE groups.

Cutler would implode and go full pouty bitch

I would have certainly welcomed Geno. Even knowing that we'd have several more losses at this point if we started him right away. Ideally, it would have been great to acquire Smith for an actual reasonable price, and drafted Geno and sat him for a year. Chiefs were either panicked about the QB position, or completely sure Alex Smith was everything other than what he appeared to be. Either way they overpaid to the point of eliminating other possible options.
