Stone Temple Pilots fire lead singer
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS
FIRE Lead Singer Scott Weiland BREAKING NEWS Stone Temple Pilots has unceremoniously FIRED its lead singer Scott Weiland ... who's been the face of the seminal rock band for 20 years. The group released an ominously curt statement today, saying, "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland." They don't give any further explanation. It's pretty shocking for several reasons ... the main being Weiland has been a core member of the group since it came together in 1986. His voice has become synonymous with STP's sound ... on hits like "Plush," "Sour Girl," and "Sex Type Thing." Another reason this came out of nowhere ... Weiland denied rumors he was leaving the band just yesterday, telling Rolling Stone, "STP has not broken up. I haven't quit. I haven't been fired." Rumors of a split began a couple of months ago when Slash said STP had fired Weiland. STP reformed in 2008 after a 5-year hiatus and toured through last year -- but apparently it hasn't been working out. So far, it's unclear who STP has in mind to replace Weiland ... if anyone. Weiland is set to launch a solo tour next month. Read more: http://www.tmz.com/2013/02/27/stone-...#ixzz2M7YJSpty Visit the TMZ Store: http://tmzstore.com |

If you notice, I refer to you as Mr. McCloud. I'm not trying to be snide, or flippant - I'm sorry you take it that way. I thought it was funny. I figured you'd think that it was cool that I even care about rock music as opposed to ooopa gangnum style or what the **** ever. Sarcasm doesn't tranfer well over the internets.

But Zutaut is technically who signed them, so I went with him. He would've been the one in the room at that point (note : SARCASM, kind of) Quote:

It took a while for GNR to break but I don't recall it taking two years. IIRC, it was 1988 when they began to take off and sell big units. "Sweet Child O' Mine" really broke them.

well, even though the engineer is running line signals, I practically ****ing MADE them mic up amps in the live room. I just want the sound of the room and the amps wherever possible.

You're very closed minded, especially when it comes to the process of recording. A little advice: Stop with your preconcieved notions (which also happen to be incorrect) and stop acting as if you know everything. You don't. Otherwise, you wouldn't be in Missouri right now. You'd actually have a career in the music business instead of dreaming about one. |

'88 when Sweet Child hit radio they blew up. I remember seeing the 'Live At The Ritz' on MTV in early '89, and that was about the time they were becoming a true phenomenon.

Running a line out from a bass head through a direct box has absolutely nothing to do with an EQ, Reverb or Modulation plugin, whether it's been modeled after a piece of vintage gear or not.

The rise and fall of Nirvana and GN'R?? In my own way, I was totally involved in that. Just because I wasn't in LA, hobknobbing with the key players doesn't mean I don't know what happened... What is it, exactly, that I didn't experience that I shouldn't be posting about??

No, the signal is split - one dry signal (direct), one delayed signal (direct) and one to the amp, which is miked. Pretty intricate for some backwoods yokels in the middle of MO...but between cowtipping and getting high on meth, we gots nothin' else ta do round dese here partz...

...I just think that if you record a good performance on good equipment that it should sound good. That's not me having preconceived notions or thinking I know it all; quite the opposite - it's that I don't know what I'm doing so much that I don't know what else to do, if that makes any sense...
