The old guy next to me died last year, after his father in law lived there and died two years before that, the FIL was 102 when he went, but both of them spent every waking hours in the yard.
The grandkids own it now and still now it once a week but do nothing else and it still looks AWESOME. I won't even let my dogs or kids set foot on the grass lol. |

I'm just ****ing with you guys. But really, I don't miss it. I tend to my trees and plants a few times a week with fertilizer if needed, everything is on a drip system for the most part for watering. I blow a few leaves from Nov-Feb since my front yard tree looses them. My cheap ass father always made me use a push mower on our huge yard at home, sledding hill included! 3-4 hours to mow everything. I think it wore out my love of lawn mowing every summer.

I have foregone the monoculture of blue grass or zoysia in favor of a biodiverse community of native species: ground violets, Taraxacum, moss, Toxicodendron radicans, clover, narrow leaf plantain, Digitaria, and an occasional wildflower. Completely natural, my lawn requires no fertilization thereby avoiding nutrient and pesticide contamination of local waterways via runoff as well as greatly reducing the accompanying carbon footprint associated with fertilizer utilization. My lawn care philosophy also requires zero lawn sprinkling since the native species are well adapted to local precipitation patterns. Competition between species in a low nutrient environment also reduces the growth rate of my meadow, and the concominant need for frequent mowing. The economized mowing schedule reduces noise pollution in the neighborhood and saves me dozens of hours per year put to better use. I endorse this approach to any of you.

Fertilizing = pay money to create more work for yourself that accomplishes nothing

My lawn may not be the best in the world, but it's the one the kids like to play in, and that's worth the sweat equity I put into it. |

Meh...this is all I have at the moment. Took the pick last week the day after I finished putting the poly sand down. From my window, in the rain... I obviously need to get out and take better pics. rel="Lightbox"?attachmentid=110074&thumb=1&d=1435030195" class="thumbnail" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1435030191.808814.jpg Views: 185 Size: 228.4 KB ID: 110074" style="margin: 2px" />

Every day. Is feel like 100 at 10% is equivalent to 83 at 60% on the unbearable meter. Humidity is what makes it miserable. When it gets up to like 110, then it starts to get unbearable in dry climates
