Every time I see the guy he looks like he's perpetually stoned.

This all stems from the new head coach there.
A new system causes the domino's to fall. I bet he loves Cassel. And doesn't care for huge arm strength in their new offensive system. |

Any team that's willing to bend over backwards to accommodate the whims of an immature, mistake-prone QB needs to get its head out of its ass. IMO McDaniels should have just said "yeah, I considered trading you. If you want to be mad about it, prove that I was wrong by not throwing 18 interceptions next year." If the players were really ready to stage a revolt, then **** em. You don't establish a winning culture by letting the players undermine the coach, and nobody on the Broncos' roster is good enough that that's worth putting up with anyways. They finished 8-8 last year and got absolutely crushed by McDaniels' old team, so it's not like they know something that he doesn't.

All newspaper reporters are brilliant. They are qualified to be GMs, that's why they write for newspapers.

I have tired head reading all this stuff... all I can do is hope for it blows over, they play nice and kick ass in 2009 and beyond.
Cutler is a nice QB and makes some great plays. The KC LB was paying respects to Easy Ed McCaffery...

A former shrink's perspective: Cutler's physical ability is the best in the NFL IMO. The kid just needs to 'grow up' and get mentally tough and realize he is not the center of the universe himself and that his team comes first by him being a true leader of sacrifice therefore becoming that centerpiece he covets. He just hasn't figured this out yet. I don't think Bowlen will let that happen - trading Cutler that is. I get your point about the trust part and why you think he MUST be traded now out of a weaker position. But here me out on this one; if Cutler's emotional maturity level was well beyond his years then I agree he must be traded because a mature person sees through the BS if that is what is really going on here. But because I was a "shrink" for 15yrs prior to what I am doing now, I really feel that Josh could repair this relationship soley based on Jay's extreme narcissism(emotional immaturity) not being able to see through all the BS because Jay's eyes have always been on himself(and moreso now) and because of his emotional immaturity(extreme narcissism) Jay can't come to grips that HIS new coach doesn't want him and thus makes it easier for Josh to recieve a pass and all is well(whether it was due to rookie GM issues or truly really wanting to trade him or trying to send a "grow up" message). This might well be a true blessing in disquise that forces Cutler and McDaniel to grow up NOW!!! and will motivate Cutler to play 'lights out'. You watch this will be patched up in no time at all due to Jay's extreme narcissism that Josh will take advantage of IMO. |

I mentioned yesterday that while this is a bag of hell now... this could be better for them in the long run, if Jay and McDaniels do it right. Jay has never really feared his role on the team... it's obvious that isn't the case now. So, even if they never were going to trade him... he and everyone else knows that everyone has a chance of being replaced.
They have a partially fractured relationship to start off, so there's nowhere to go but up really... and I think they can easily make that happen. Jay mentioned as much yesterday.

This has got to be the best day for a Bronco hater in recent memory. I mean Shanahan's firing was beautiful, but this is just icing on the cake. They are quickly descending to Raiders status.

Enh, by the time training camp rolls around, everything will be good... Jay will still be the QB in Denver and they'll be moving in the right direction.

Well, all I have to say is that I don't necessarily wish the goats ill. I wish them ill plus several additional incurable diseases of the crotch. To think that the national media are calling for a firing of their head coach couldn't be more hilarious. Poor goats.
As for Cutler, it's good to see him handling this incorrectly although I wouldn't have expected anything different. With any luck, this animosity will spread throughout the entire organization and persist for years. You go, girl. FAX |
