Report: Chiefs give Branden Albert permission to meet with Dolphins

Report: Chiefs give Branden Albert permission to meet with Dolphins

With the Chiefs considering a trade that would send left tackle Branden Albert to Miami in exchange for one of the Dolphins’ second-round draft picks, Kansas City has taken a big step toward getting a deal done by giving Albert permission to meet with the Dolphins.

Albert signed his one-year, $9.8 million tender offer as the Chiefs’ franchise player, which means he’s under contract and only permitted to talk to other teams if the Chiefs grant him that permission. And according to John Clayton of ESPN, that’s exactly what has happened: The Chiefs have given the Dolphins permission to talk to Albert, who lives in Miami, and he is expected to visit the Dolphins’ facility and take a physical.

The Dolphins are the only team that has received permission from the Chiefs to talk to Albert. Any team that would trade for Albert would surely want him to agree to a long-term contract first, so this week’s visit will presumably include negotiations with Albert’s agent in addition to a physical.

A high second-round pick is reportedly the price tag the Chiefs have put on Albert. The Dolphins have two second-round picks, their own (No. 42 overall) and the Colts’ (No. 54 overall).

Miami wants to upgrade at left tackle after losing Jake Long to the Rams. The top three left tackles in this year’s draft (Luke Joeckel, Eric Fisher and Lane Johnson) are all likely to be off the board before the Dolphins’ first-round pick, No. 12 overall, comes up. So if the Dolphins are going to make that upgrade, trading for Albert is probably a better bet than relying on a rookie.

Once again you guys have in your mind 2 options Geno or LT. Why does it have to be one of those 2?
Alright then, in your opinion, instead of taking a qb #1, what, and possibly who, would you pick?

Reid is denying the report about them giving permission for him to visit the Dolphins.

He is still obviously gone, but that part may not be true.

I want to draft a franchise QB too, but what do you do if you don't think a franchise QB is in the draft? Nothing? Pick a guy you don't believe is the answer just to do it?

Some of you guys have massive blinders on.

We are not passing on RGIII or Luck here people, Geno is a ****ing crap shoot. The fact nobody is interested in trading up to get him supports that.
That excuse doesn't wash with me anymore after 30 ****ing years of doing the same thing, over and over. Sorry, no excuses, they aren't going to try, end of story.

If Andrew Luck was setting there, they would have traded out of it for the opportunity to draft both an OT and a DT.

I'll also say that I hardly think there's a consensus in the Dolphins' building that going after Branden Albert is the way to go.

Hopefully Albert and the Fins can hammer out a favorable deal.

The better the deal, the better our compensation for him will be.

Maybe they'll trade up for Jokel.

Kidding guys...

It is the fact that the team won't try, and hasn't tried in the last 30 ****ing years.

There is always an excuse, and this is no different than the last 27 ****ing drafts.

Bottom line, the safest route to 10 and 6, is to not take a chance on a 1st round QB, get a recycled reject to fill the spot and use the pick on safer choices.
Give the fans some hope, and sell some tickets! 10 and 6 here we come!

For some reason I don't believe Reid. It was reported by John Clayton and C-Money doesn't usually get stuff wrong or report without good sources.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Yes, I have been wanting them to draft a QB in the first for a very long time.

yeah right, pouty bullshit. Facing the damn facts, take your ****ing blinders off LAZ! If you can't connect these dots, you are never going to get laid.
