I think most people who don't get this aren't thinking it through--you're just seeing the cartoon and assuming it is a knock on Chris Kyle.

Kyle wasnt at a shooting range like you sre thinking of. He was in the middle of a giant wildlife expanse. He and the other gentlemen who was killed were alone with the murderer.
Being armed wont save you when you are betrayed by someone close to you. But I sure like my chances with a gun, more than without. |

The book SEAL Target Geronimo has a chapter on that rescue operation that is awesome. The book Never Surrender talks about it also. |

That's pretty much my thought - he's exploiting, not mocking. It still makes him scum, just a different flavor.

Political cartoons are so banal and reeruned, there's no reason to pay them any mind these days. That creative medium is below ****ing miming in my eyes.

Where is the cartoon showing the LAPD cops in a grave stating something to the effect of "If only there had been a cop around" or something to that effect.
Or how about same caption as the cartoon in the OP just have some sort of deptiction of that truck the LAPD shot up with the two ladies inside delivering papers

While I agree in a sense, 1) Kyle didn't die in the line of duty. 2) There's irony in that the shooter was also military and I don't think people would get up in arms if he were besmirched(Dorner?) 3) The cartoon ultimately isn't about Kyle other than he was "the good guy."

I don't get the outrage. It's a little over the line, but it's a political cartoon. The biggest problem I have with the cartoon is that its point is pretty weak.
I also don't understand how people are so scandalized at the satirical use of someone's death on a website where there are daily threads lampooning the untimely end of any number of people. Some are criminals or whatever, but many have families that love them, etc. Why is someone who at one time worked for the military held above the same gallows humor? |

I believe the reaction would be different if this had been a mockery of Derrick Thomas in the week after his death.
