But I'm not a huge social media guy. Really don't use it for anything (no chat, no pic uploading, no events, etc).

So what does an invite e-mail look like? I got something from someone that appears to be an invite e-mail, but the "button" simply says "Learn more about Google+" and takes me to the standard page that says Keep Me Posted.

Not sure it's worth all of this trouble.

thats it. you just have to keep clicking the button every so often till you get to the invite screen.

So true. I used to tell all my business clients that the BEST security policy they can have is to not do anything that they don't want EVERYONE to know.

Every business in America that hires anyone above entry level is checking out the Linked in, facebook, twitter pages of prespective employees. If there are gaps or a "sense" to hide parts of your life it could be seen as a red flag. I don't think most people realize how fast the loss of privacy came about and how fast the average business in America figured that out.
